my dinner was an "aged" grain fed scotch fillet steak in mushroom sauce on one plate, and some steamed chat potatoes with a large knob of danish butter on another plate, and on that same plate (but separated by a divider) 12 asparagus spears sauteed in the same danish butter.

i was not completely satisfied. the steak was divine. it was vacuum packed and graded A1, and it cost $35 per kilogram (but my packaged steak was 275 grams so it cost $9.62) and it was very tender and tasty and....juicy. i mop up the juice with a paper towel before i pour the heated mushroom sauce on it.

the mushroom sauce was disappointing because it was s store bought prefabricated sauce and there were no discernible mushrooms in it. it had a reasonably nice taste but it was not to my expectation.

next time i will use that same sauce, but i will also cook diced mushrooms in butter and add them to the sauce before i pour it over the steak.

the asparagus was not really that tasty. i like canned asparagus the most because it is so soft and tasty, whereas fresh asparagus is chewy and woody sometimes. but one can not cook canned asparagus, so it would be inappropriate for the meal.

the potatoes were nice only because i had a 40 gram block of lurpack butter sitting on a paper patty cake shell to eat them with. i could not eat potatoes without butter as they are so dry. i always wipe my knife and fork with a paper towel (to prevent cross contamination (i do not like my separate meal ingredients to touch each other)) and then i cut a knob of butter about 1 cm by 4 cm (a lot i know) off the main knob, and i stick my fork into it, and then i stick my fork into the section of pre-cut potato i am going to eat. butter and potatoes are nice, but i am getting tired of them.

i felt well fed but i was not exhilarated by the experience.

then, after the taste of dinner had disappeared from my mouth (about 20 minutes later), i drank a 600 ml carton of "oak" chocolate milk.

that was the last meal i had.

The problem with a lot of butter these days is that it has had most of the salt removed. Which takes quite a bit of the taste with it.
