11 C. That's 52 F for Freedom Lovers. Why it has gotten this cold is beyond my mind's grasp; winter solstice had passed a few weeks ago. This is double-plus ungood, for I live in a region with a subtropical climate.

Everyone in my town now wears layers upon layers of fur-padded jackets when they go outside for air.

The sky is perpetually inhabited by layers upon layers of light gray clouds, with not a single opening in between to glance at the lapis sky. I see no eviction notice on the horizon.

Sometimes the infinite cloud deck has the audacity to initiate micturition right above my town and my house, as if an unhousebroken chihuahua, though its intensity never surpasses that of a falling mist, which is admittedly a plus.

It's 8:30 AM and the temp is about to hit 30°C
Today the whole state has a "Catastrophic" fire rating. High winds, blistering temps.
I've been advised to evacuate, but since I'm surrounded by state Forest, and it's illegal to enter crown forest today....

I've connected, repaired and tested the rooftop and veranda fire sprinkler systems, have the immersion pump in the pool and I've watered all the plants I'd like to survive.
The evac boxes are loaded in the car, but I think I'll be staying.
At any sign of approach I'll give the alpacas the run of the property, block my gutters, fire up the sprinklers and start hosing down the house and birds.
I'll have to try to keep the house batteries/inverter cool as only the rooftop fire pump is petrol.
