Kevin, good to know that your parents are supporting you. My parents are supportive, but they still needed to know more about me and my autism.

Having parents on your side is one part of the "battle"
I suppose that is true (excuse for not using contractions: bad scansion). My father kept bringing up my, "being in my own world," for a long time and I never thought that was a bad thing or something that would need changing. In hindsight, I think that there were some early-childhood behaviors that could be interpreted as meltdowns, but those occurred before language acquisition, so I cannot state any of those with certainty. I probably should get a more proper diagnosis from a specialist on conditions like AS, but I'm still unsure about the benefits if there are no recommendations. It would have been better if I found out last year, because that would provide more time to reduce the symptoms before all the college/university interviews.
(If you did not imagine me as an adult, disregard the following reiteration of a strangely common thought. To those who still think I am a teacher/graduate student despite the blatant statement of age: I am only 16 and I might discuss the oddly separated ages (time sense: ~80 yr, physical appearance: ~11 yr, social understanding: <10 yr, et cetera) somewhere else later tomorrow, also known as today due to sleeping in the morning and waking in the afternoon.)
