So many WP members in the UK (and Europe in general), and you're all so close together. It isn't faaair.

Well, not really. There are a few that live fairly close to me, but most of them are based in the South-East or in Scotland.

It seems like there are many more WP people on the west coast. I only know of one person who lives in the Atlanta area and his avatar is of the Georgia Tech bee.

Yes, but it would necessitate an overnight stay and, anyway, I can't drive or use public transport.

I think what you've failed to appreciate is that for people in much of Europe that the world is a much smaller place so somewhere that is considered a trivial distance for a rural American or Canadian can be considered an extremely long way for a British or Irish person.

And I also suppose you can drive to Poland. It only takes a day or two. ;)

People here tend not to want to be in their car much longer than 90 minutes each way if they're going to meet someone. Otherwise it's an overnight stay or even a mini-break.

Where do you want to go in Europe? The Continent is often not especially cheap and in a lot of Europe it ranges anywhere from pricey to bank-loan-for-beer expensive.

If you just want something easy, the British Isles would be a good first stop.
