What are the five hardest things that you know how to do?

What are the easiest things you do not know how to do?

 :P

My computer skills: On. Off. ("Sleep" seldom works). Internet. Word for Mac. Powerpoint. Scan something. Print.

No Excel. None of those other things you mentioned. (I don't even know what they are).

I can type really fast, if that counts?

Hardest things I can do:
Write properly, especially academic papers or poetry
Knit complicated patterns
Drive cars (although I'm not allowed any more because of my stroke) or boats
Deal with stress (relatively?)
Remember things via synaesthesia

Easy things I can't do:
Understand anything social or entertainment related
Make conversation
Look at people
Interpret or express my feelings verbally
Tend a plant for more than a day

Hard things:
1. Fly a helicopter
2. Play 7 instruments
3. Hold my breath for 3 minutes
4. Hotwire a car
5. Pick a lock

Easy things:
1. Tie my shoes well
2. Cook
3. Make small talk
4. Handle emotions
5. Walk in a straight line

What’s something you WISH you could do?

Oh this is fun. I like your list, Grace! :)

I'm going to keep going.

Hard things:
Read novels in French
Sculpt on a pottery wheel
Arithmetic, Trig and calculations
Keep aquaria and healthy fish
Ride and groom horses
Deal with legal matters (PTSD)

Easy things:
I've never left a voice mail message in my life (I assume people will see my number and call back) 8O
I don't know how to put music on my phone or computer
I can't walk in a straight line
I won't ask for help (directions, etc.)
I can't even play Chop Sticks (no instruments)
I have no idea how to start a lawn mower

Sorry Grace, I forgot to answer your question.

Something I wish I could do? Speak in polysyllabic words to my own mother.

Also I like your list too.

A few more easy things for me:
1) I cant talk on the phone to strangers
2) I cant go to the store by myself
3) I cant open envelopes
4) I cant wear makeup
5) I cant light a candle

To answer the question I wish I could act normal. Or at least in a way that would make people like me.

(This is kinda morbid, oops) Have you ever thought about killing yourself?

I've though about how I would kill myself, but haven't thought about actually doing it - so far.

I had horses at my grandfather's property when I was 13 ish. My favourite was named Silvergirl (after the lyrics in Bridge over Troubled Water -- "sail on Silver girl"). I rode Western but didn't have formal training or assistance. I just figured it out. It was a lovely area at the seaside and I was given free "reign" over the horses. The lady who owned the paddock taught me to groom them. I miss it a lot. My grandfather died when I was 16 and I never saw my horses again. We moved to California. It was a tough time.

I was suicidal around age 12 -13 when my grandfather was still missing (he vanished for 8 years starting when I was 5), and I had difficulty with social development at school. I likely shouldn't give more details on my plan.

I'd much rather just go invisible these days, than die.

That sounds so nice. I wish anyone in my family was interested in horses. Ive been fortunate enough to take lessons my whole life. Im not really sure what Id be without them; they're an essential part of my life.

Yes I have been suicidal but it is many years ago now. Ironically I got a serious heart/lung condition some time after when I felt I had gained control over my life again. So then I had to deal with the fear of dying and it rally felt like my life was a roller coaster turning things up side down for me all the time...

Nice to see other horse lovers :) I have been interested in horses since I was i child.

Is there music(what kind of music do) you find specially comforting and like to listen to when you are not feeling good?

I tend to like screamo music, oddly enough.

Well my music is tied to my mood so if Im feeling down I'll probably be listening to like depressing ballads or something. But it kinda works cause I really love powerful, emotional ballads and by the time my ballad playlist is up Im usually in a better mood and can switch to happier songs.

How do you handle a lot of stress?

Mainly by listening to music as well, as trying to redirect my mind away from what is tormenting me.

How do you handle rejection?

Stress:

When I figure out how to handle a lot of stress, I'll let you know 8O

People say I'm very resilient, but it's more like I've had no choice. They don't see the toll it's taken on me. When I'm very stressed I barely speak, I crunch in a ball (stimming if I have the physical energy), and I can't eat. Music is usually too overwhelming because my senses shut down. If I get to full-on meltdown I might throw something but that's rare. The last thing I threw was a bottle of red wine vinegar onto my stone floor. I learned quickly that wasn't a helpful strategy.

Longer term solutions: Zoloft, intense trauma therapy, occasional hypnosis. Never EMDR -- that was a bad scene for me.

Rejection:

It's always my fault, so I hate myself a bit extra and ruminate about all my failures for the next two or three years afterward.

I've had to deal with rejection be in a friendship/relationship manner to job candidacy;therefore, it's not easy as, often I feel that I'm 90% at fault for such even if evidence does not bare out such findings.
I try to move on though, there are footprints of such always lingering in the shadows of my mind.,

Do you have difficulty with greeting people whom you don't know in a public setting?

The actual act of greeting people I have no problem with. You say the same thing every time. However, working up the courage to actually walk up to someone and randomly introduce myself is the hard part. If Im alone, I'll never meet someone new. But if Im tagging along with other people and they're introducing me to others, than I have no problem greeting them politely.

Do you enjoy 'skinship'? That is, friends being very tactile with you? (Ex: hugs, kisses, holding hands, bumping shoulders, sitting in each others laps, playing with your hair, etc etc)
