Does anyone know how best to support someone who is sitting shiva?

By listening to what they have to say, and offering positive, happy memories of the departed person.

Don’t express undue sympathy or lament. Be yourself.

Do you know how to support during shiva from afar? I know that it is not customary to send flowers. Food is appreciated but again, it is afar and I can't deliver. I am refraining from text and phone calls. I imagine I just wait.

No I don’t know anything about sitting Shiva, except that it is customary. In general someone mourning would appreciate a brief message of condolence. There does not need to be excess sympathy, but a kind note expressing the thought that you acknowledge their loss can be very comforting to the recipient.

Sitting shiva is a relatively nonextravagent affair. Even the food is restrained.

Have you met a Hasidic person? They are religious Jews who wear dark suits and hats.

I have certainly seen them but I don't know any personally.

I think there's a little tiny hamlet one about 90 minutes from me. But I'm not sure.

Yes. Leave it To Beaver is a very good TV show. It was very groundbreaking for its time.

Do you prefer classic television or modern television?

Modern TV shows are of fantastic quality, but there are some classics, like the Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Lost in Space that are just unbelievably good.

Every generation has it's titans. So I can't really pick.

I do miss classic TV though, with those old school game shows. Sitting together with family. That is just gone

Definitely classic TV.

Some of the shows back in the early days had great scripts, and expanded on modern, heavy themes. The problem was that there were very few “minority” characters who had leading roles until the late 1960s.

I've watched a lot of black and white TV and my family borrowed a small black and white TV set when we were getting our coloured TV set fixed for a few months when I was 6.
