They won't, assuming they bother to find out what it is - and unless you have a magic bit of paper stating that you are quantitatively disabled though ASD, expect a battle to convince them that it is important and it does matter.
If you're not a small child, mental health-care in the UK is an utter disgrace and the older you get the thinner it becomes.

Sadly I have to agree

Ditto. Especially the last part for me Cornflake. Too true.

The whole reason I'm not working at the moment is to give me a break from stress.

@ identity - I hope you get on better with them than I will. I've done this whole routine multiple times before and it always works out the same way.

I want to, but as long as it's all on my terms. I know that's an unrealistic view though, so I'd settle with just at least being the slightest bit interested in my work, that'd do for me.

Having said that, whilst I'd probably screw up terribly at anything at the present moment, it may change

Every chance of it changing.

Have you thought about working professionally as a support worker or something for people on the autism spectrum? I think you'd be good at it. I know Laz works for the NAS doing something similar and I think something like that would be very well suited for you. You'd probably need other qualifications before like health and social care etc. but I reckon it'll be worth it.

Maybe you could contact Laz and find out more, he obviously knows way more than me.

Well, I'm not too sure about that one!
But yeah, we'll see

Thanks rabbitears, yes I'm going through all the malarkey about ESA at the moment.

Ah, I don't know - everything looks uncertain right now and at the moment I'm just concerned about making it to summer without thinking much about the future

Okay then, whatever is best for you. :D

If you need to talk to someone when you're feeling low or uncertain or whatever, I'm here if you need me. In fact, practically everyone on WP is.

I agree that a lot of things look uncertain right now :o I would like to work at a library one day though, if they let me, not like a full work day but just a few hours to sort books and things like that :D But the last time i worked somewhere at an animal shelter my co-workers treated me like an idiot, and i worked at a bakery once but to be honest that didn't work either due to my lack of experience and well i had to leave school before that so uhm all things together made that not do-able for me ><

^It's good that you've tried some things though Moonhawk. I did think at one point that I might like to work in a library in the future, however I don't think I could cope with dealing with the public!
