The older generation aren't meant to like this music, it isn't aimed at you. Everyone has different tastes.

They can't help it. They're kids. They just listen to what their friends are and what their television tells them they should listen to, and it's pretty much all that garbage you posted.

They all feel it's nessecary to fit in so they just listen to mostly what everyone else does I assume. :?

There isn't a single song on my ipod with sexual references whatsoever. With the exception of maybe 1 or 2 songs by rammstein, granted I don't even speak german though so I'm not bothered. :o

What's in style with the kids now? Indie glam pop? Jeffree Star? I have no idea what is cool with the kids these days. I'm not sure I want to either because I have a feeling it's just a bunch of inside jokes about social networking. A mish-mash of every genre with no actual talent or thought. "You're on my top friends list. Money! Candy! Let's go to the store!" Experimental only it all sounds alike so it's not actually experimental. Music that is so ironic it's actually not ironic anymore. Zero substance or meaning. Just apathy as a trend. That's what I think the kids are into these days. Every single genre combined to create a huge plethora of meaningless crap. Or maybe that's just the "cool kids."

Yet I'm slowly reaching the point where I get to decide what is "cool" so the "cool kids" can listen to music that I release. Which is why I run a record label. To have power and influence over this culture of watered down postmodernism.

Childrens music as a whole is kinda meant to be horrible. I mean is Justin Bieber really that worse than Nsync? Kids will like whatever's marketed to them when they're young and when they get older they're going to find music that suits them... or they're going to continue to indulge in whatever's marketed to them blindly. (unfortunately)

A lot of uber popular music sucks, it has sucked in the past and it will continue to suck in the future (with exceptions, of course). Just ignore it and enjoy what you like.

Have you ever heard of f**k You - Lily Allen? I mean...it's not like you'd get punished if you have this stuck in your head, it was popular, so everybody knew it was just a song... I've only looked it up to know the lyrics of the entire song and all I could do while listening (apart from watching the lyrics) was * 8O *. I'm glad it's not "in" anymore, but...

Nothing much appeals to me today in regards to music. The only modern music I listen to so far is MGMT (who are quite poetic and nice) and FischerSpooner.

My age dictates that of course I am not into this kiddie music. But, actually, at 12-13 I was listening to U2, Queen, Sisters of Mercy, etc. A bit darker than what is promoted to these American kids.

I think kids are a lot better off listening to the Jonas Brothers than a load of garbage about a yellow submarine and being a walrus.

The Beatles benefit from being old and being from a time everyone was too drugged-up to have sense...people actually think they were good and treat them like mythical gods, when really they were a (rubbish) pop band. I can understand why people like them (and junk like The Monkees), but I can't stand them. I actually like Elvis, but he unleashed some absolute drivel too.

It's a shame so many people seem to be ignorant to today's popular music...there's a lot of fun stuff. You don't get cool points for only listening to pre-1970s ukele group or spooky death metal orchestras from Ghana, and blindly hating anything popular or for "the kids".

You're not on a higher plane of musical existence just because your taste is obscure/antiquated.

There's a lot of recent music that I don't really like, but then again there's some I do like from now.
It's more a matter of genres then the time from whence they came.

Even so, I do find music from the '40s and prior to be preferable to most of the current generation's music.

(Though, in relation to Wobbuffet's message, I wouldn't say this makes me any better (or get any more 'cool points'? o.O) then anyone liking current music, I just don't particularly like most of the music nowadays - at least most of the generally popular music, though this is unintentional, not because I'm specifically trying to dislike popular music)

One of my friends says I'm close-minded for not liking modern music, this isn't true - I simply don't like most modern music just as a personal preference. (And, relative to the above paragraph, this is the music I like personally, so I'm not going to be liking something merely to get 'cool points' in the eyes of others..?)

By the way, I can't even hear Justin Bieber, because the human eardrum isn't capable of hearing such high frequency. ^^

I hated kid's music, when I was in my teens, as well.

Sounds like my reaction after the first time I heard Boy George's "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me." (Yes, I really wanted to hurt him).

"Screamo" is a kind of music that I know for a fact I can live without.

I'm actually gonna go ahead and agree with everyone here who hates Justin Beiber, if I haven't already. The first time I heard one of his songs (Baby, I believe it was), I honest to god thought it was a female singing.
