I have a talent show at my clubhouse today. I'm going to be telling my Om Nom story.

My coworkers need to know that just because I'm friends with our new supervisor it doesn't mean I'm going to act as some sort of spy and start grassing everyone up lol. I'm not like that.

Getting home on time to watch a popular Christmas event live on all local channels.

Nothing much.
Just few chores and tasks here and there...


Strange... I used to look forward for weekends.
Or at least anticipate it, and by wanting time to be as fast as possible to be there.

Now it's... Yeah it's "inevitable", but without looking as it it's a mountain to climb between the weekend rest from the supposedly arduous now.

This doesn't mean I'm going back to work 6 days a week.

I'm looking forward to Christmas.

I have my work cut out for me tomorrow. I'm going to give my place an intense cleaning. To me that means dishes, bathroom, kitchen, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and getting under the stove and the fridge.

It snowed last night, and the sidewalk and driveway needs to have the snow removed before it starts to melt and get sloshy and heavy.

You can tell it's a long time since I studied German, nicht wahr?

I studied it for about 6 weeks in the summer holiday when I was in teaching, circa 1984. I did it probably out of boredom, certainly for no practical reason.

Although it's directly related to English, I don't think the format is all that intuitive for native English speakers, namely the word-order and placing of verbs. Fortunately my principal 'second language' is (was) Latin, so the 'verb at the end' business is familiar to me.

Latin is another one I did not find easy. The authors are so eloquent. But the language itself always leave me squinting and thinking oh, but why isn't it Greek.

* I disliked classical and post-classical Latin as taught at university. Vulgar Latin, Hiberno-Latin (the alliterations!), the more fragmentary early Italic languages, these I find fun to poke at.

I think I struggle a bit with highly formalised languages.

Latin and German together - that suggests an organised and rigorous mind I think.

Especially if you picked the German up on a whim
