I was talking to a neighbour about recycling and she said she always puts it in bags before putting it in the recycling bin.
I said if you put it in bags it goes straight in the rubbish (I know this for a fact because I've spent some time at the recycling plant).
And she said, "Oh, I couldn't put it in the recycling bin loose!"
So I told her she may as well put it straight in the rubbish, because people at the recycling plant don't have time to untie bags with the volume of stuff coming through, they have to let it go to landfill.
But I saw her this morning putting a bag of recycling in her recycling bin.
What is it with this woman??
The purpose of recycling is to recycle.
Wah!!
I don't know why this bothers me so much but it does!
Stupid, wilful stubbornness!!

I worked hard at the flower shop today. We used cedar twigs and pine twigs to use in arrangements, and I got prickled, and it was ouch. I was worried about getting a sliver, but I didn't.
I brought some cookies for [I'm not even sure what to call her since I'm not employed there...um...] the lady who owns the shop, and she gave me a card with $50 inside, and a Christmas arrangement with a teddy bear!
I named him Pooh Bear, because all he needs is a little red shirt. :D

If you're not employed there, why are you working so hard there?

?

Because...I like it there, and it's fun, and I'm a naturally hard working person.

I know you like it there----but shouldn't you be paid for your labours?

Note: I do understand where you're coming from. You like these people, and you want to work hard for them just for that reason.

Please don't think I'm criticizing you in any way.

I just thought----that you getting hurt like that is rather hard on you. And I hope the folks at the flower shop appreciate you.

Well...there's a flower shop in the town I live in, and getting a job is on my New Year's resolution list [my first list like that ever], so I could look into that sometime.

It's just little scratches, nothing major, and it's not like we use pine and cedar every day.

Well, it's not every day you get a teddy bear, so I'd say they appreciate me. :P

Teddy bears are definitely cool.

I wish you luck in your pursuit of that position come New Years.

I've been thinking about characters in books and movies and tv shows and video games and all that, and somehow I went along the lines towards Star Trek and that Crusher kid.

Now I'm trying to think of characters that I really dislike.

Not many come to mind besides Rose Tyler [Doctor Who], Gendo Ikari [Neon Gen Eva], Takuya [Persona 3/PSP], and...a certain Metroid character...

We been recycling in Wales for years , we were the test pilot , I think they are rolling it across the UK now.

Wales is well ahead of the rest of the UK, second in Europe and third in world recycling league tables.

^ we've been recycling here for a long time too.
The recycling plant employs disabled people so I used to go there with clients when I worked in disability services.
You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I saw there that I'd like to unsee.

For the record I didn't like Rose Tyler either.
Rory Williams was my favourite and had best character development of any companion imo, close second to Amy Pond.
