I made chocolate chip shortbread, but it's all flaky and kind of falling apart. Oh, well.

That could be very dangerous you know. Better not let anyone touch it. Just pass it on to me and I'll, uh, dispose of it.

Like I said , I do this sort of things for fun ( well more of a challenge than fun tbh )

It could well be a quick fix , I don't know till I try :)

If it's not a quick fix then we'll abort the mission. No problem!

Photoshop did quite a good job all on it's own , this took less than 5 minutes. Are these acceptable ?

How do you cheer up a suicidal person?

lots of listening and offering comfort. if they've got a plan and a way to carry it out , don't leave then alone until they're with help.

yes, also
validation is key.

suicidal people want to feel like there's a valid reason behind their despair. that it's not made up. continued support, sticking around as a friend even after they've weathered the worst helps tremendously, too.

but being there for some people (like me), can be really taxing and i can see why not a lot of people can be up to it, while risking looking selfish or like a jerk

I worry I'll say the wrong thing and make it worse, so I end up saying nothing, which makes it seem like I don't care but I do.
Then I worry and guilt myself into a state.
how to you give validation?

Would it be considered rude to give someone a second hand present?

I'm not sure if you mean regifting or that it's from a second-hand (reused) source. I've given many second-hand gifts when I know the person likes vintage / retro things or if the gift is perfect for them but unable to be found new. I don't believe any gift giving should be considered rude, because it's a gesture of affection! You know the recipient best, but I don't think so.
