What's your favourite mathematical equation?
Einstein’s General Relativity equation. Elegant, simple, and very obvious once you understand it. It’s the only equation that made me literally slap my forehead and say, “Of Course!”.
What’s your favorite recipe? You mean the field equations, I suppose? My intuition about tensors has always been pretty poor, but on my limited acquaintance, they struck me as being rather cumbersome, rather like Maxwell's equations. Nothing, to my mind, beats the beauty of the Schrödinger equation, although like every other undergraduate, I was disappointed to learn that it can't in any true sense be derived.
