o-week, day 3. we got 8 contacts. one of them went to the same highschool as me. he was in my sister's year. i hope he doesnt figure this out because he could blow my cover but it is good knowing that there are left wing people in my area. apparently he had been reading our website for ages before and knew who 3 of our comrades are and when he was done speaking to my comrades for an hour he came up to the antiracism stall and was like "hi i REALLY want to join your club". and i was like 8O thats the second person from my area in 3 days and both were very good politically. i also made 2 contacts and they werent brilliant but one has said she will come to the marxist discussion group and the other i still need to ring but she was interested in the marxism conference. im supposed to be in charge of contacting them with information and stuff which ive never had to do partly because i havent ever made real contacts. kinda excited. i hope all the contacts join but realistically i know this is not possible but still. and i sold the magazine to people.
and my comrade remembered to bring rebel girl.
and i spoke to a left wing person and mentioned the womens collective had been taken over by labour right and she was horrified. absolutely horrified. its just nice meeting left wing people.
and free cornetto enigmas. im loathe to spruik something for big corporations taking advantage of something supposed to be about students but hazelnut and chocolate is so good. especially if it is free.
and a relative who was hanging around campus didnt notice or recognise me.
and a young liberal(the liberals are a conservative political party. ironic name.) spoke to me and was like" want to join?" & "you look a little bit like a communist." its like im holding a magazine with the word socialist in big letters on it and im calling out for people who have anticapitalist politics. yes i look a little bit like a communist. bigoted lot they are. should be shot.
and as i was leaving and heading towards the bus a comrade who had not been there during the day noticed i was there and said hi to me. she was heading for work but the bus system is not good in her area.

The movie 2012 is on TV. It's so over-the-top that I actually like it. L.A. is spectacularly demolished and swallowed up by the Earth, and then California literally slides off into the sea -- like the joke about that that I've heard a hundred times by people who don't like California.

The main character is on the phone to his ex-wife (who has his kids) and just said, "...when they say everything is ok [on TV], that's when you run!"

after having a comrades book almost ruined by water my other comrades were sympathetic and tried to dry it and one offered to give me his book. i was touched. after they found out it was another comrades they reassured me that he wouldnt mind. i also bumped into someone i knew in highschool and we talked. apparently she was doing a stall too. i also made fun of the liberals and got into an argument with right wingers. its horrible that they exist but after being rejected all day you need someone to yell at. and i made one contact. he was from italy and described himself as an anticapitalist, he'd been to a meeting of the british SWP and had been at the protests against putin. he was interested in marxism conference. i didnt even have to spruik it to him. and bundaberg came around at the end of the day and gave us free drinks.

the moon here looks beautiful too. it is but a sliver of silver in the dark pitch sky. also i asked my mum if i can go to mardi gras and she said yes. my dad could still say no and there is a big chance he might yet but until then i will let myself hope. if i can it will be my first pride. gay christmas is one week away. i wonder what i should wear. i dont have anything rainbow. golly i'm getting quite excited about this. and if i can go i won't just be going i will be in the actual parade.
