Occasionally.. I dont do it consciously i dont think... Humming.. Playing with hands.. Etc. I go full autistic in water. Only realized it recently (this month) after taking son to swimming lessons. When u are alone u dont realize the stuff u do is anything.. It is the same as breathing...

And why not? ASD is a good thing when u can soak up n enjoy the environment (good aspects... not polluted or desecrated or sad environment)

I make up a lot of silly songs around the house and in my daily conversation, like echolalia. Ironically, I don't do this in the shower at all. My shower is zen time. I don't even put lights on.

Do you remember all your teachers' names?

If by ethnic you mean non-local it's a really hard choice, I like a lot of different European cuisines.

If it has to be "exotic", then Thai, the authentic thing.

Same question.

Yeah thai and Malaysian (both authentic) food is the best from everything! XH used to go to a Malaysian restaurant with me every week called Restoran Malaysia. And a Thai dish from another one.

I dont go there anymore bcuz of that nor do I eat either type of cuisine for same reason... But Thai n Malay foods (authentic ones) require such complex ingredients n setting up before u put it all together.. I think Malay is 20 percent better tasting than Thai food but they put in more effort n its kind of impractical for modern life

No not all over my lifetime. I wish I did. I remember them all as people and they were all fascinating. I have lots of stories about them all esp the Arab ones since they were the weirdest and most outrageous

The only time I needed to lose some weight I ate only Thai food for months - it worked like a charm and I felt great!

Yes :( My good memory can be a pain in the backside sometimes.

Do you play a musical instrument?

No I wish! As a child I learned organ and clarinet but I don't remember a thing. I have a music studio in my house full of instruments from my nephew's band. I should really try to learn.

What's your favourite colour? Is it the same as when you were a kid?

I think thats what psychologists not all but many dont understand... ASD ppl can sense n pick up vibes so they assume there are not so many boundaries between minds n therefore presume the other person already knows or can see their point of view. After a lot of bad experiences thats when they realize its not true.
Also selective mutism the overlap there... I was reading a book about Aspergers today n had to out it down bcuz i was so fed up that the way they describe things was often so condescending n. 'Other'.. Eg they say that with asd severe cognitive delay and Asperhers n everything in between...

the person laughs for no reason...well obviously they thought of or felt something that made them laugh..they just didn't share it with u!! So arrogant.

If you were reading for information about your own autism (as opposed to your sons'), I recommend Spectrum Women. It really hit the mark for me. Another good title for women is Women and Girls with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Yup, some of the books can be pretty outdated, especially if they use the term "Aspergers" or "Aspie" (my pet peeve).

Yes it was for me... i found it really sad... only read 1 page though! (haha)
Why don't you like the term Aspie or Aspergers? Rose Guedes only uses those terms and gets flack for it a lot but she and I can't help it, i love that term as it helps compartmentalize for me.

One time I read a book (compilation by a man named KEVIN--i'm mentioning because Kevin is a name of bad people usually, which should have warned me - e.g. there was a doctor on twitter who said something horrible about autism, and my bad L's name was that, and i knew a bully called that too)
about Aspergers at the library and it was soooooo full of errors (misjudgements) not in a small way, but i KNEW it was errors/misunderstandings, from the writers' points of view --

i wanted to write to them and explain, but that only works if the other person is not arrogant and considers listening at least... because then i read the articles written by the actual Dr Kevin man, who put together the compilation, and it was soooo mean and wrong the stuff he wrote, like he was purely judging and excluding anyone who wasn't like, the 1 aspie person he studied, probably... AND HE HAD A MASTER'S.

not only that, he was assuming bad intent in everything and it was obvious that a lot of his assumptions came about from his own pre-conceptions and/or arrogant approach.

Turquoise. No, my fave as a kid was pale blue.

I would look at that colour for hours sometimes, in books (esp one book of flowers, would open and turn to pale blue flowers, then close, and repeat until it was time to go to bed). Gosh the asd-ness was so obvious, my parents were so oblivious!

I don't remember what my favourite was as a little child, but in adolescence it was blue-purple or violet.

Now my favourite is charcoal grey but I still like violet and blue.

I've never been a fan of turquoise, and I'm afraid of orange.

You wouldn't like to meet me, my XH's severe ASD brother (he sees people's auras) has always called me Orange __, because I have an orange aura apparently! lol. But I get what you mean. Personally find yellow to be unnerving.

Kind of a deep royal blue, tied with pitch black (no grayness, no shine, no texture, just black). I can just sit and stare at both of those. No, it's not the same, as a kid I liked pink and red together, but only together. I also had a while where I liked highlighter yellow.

Same question.

Orange is a CPTSD trigger for me. I can manage soft shades (pumpkin), but not bright orange or peach.

I'm sure your aura is beautiful like you.

Many autistic people have difficulty with yellow. It's something about the light waves and our sensitivities.

Do you have a favourite letter of the alphabet? I adore E.

I find yellow unnerving too - I like forest green and I used to love red as a kid.

A favourite letter? I never thought about it... I don't think so.

Do you like Monty Python?
