I can't consider my wife's son my child. He doesn't consider me his father. He considers me "his mother's husband."

There's nothing wrong with that. But that's the reality. He is only seven years younger than me. And he's much more successful than I am. He is a doctor.

My father's second wife is not my mother----though I get along with her. I think of her as "my father's wife."

He's lucky to have a person like you in his life, that's for sure.

What does the little boy call you? Are you a grandfather figure to him even though you aren't a father figure to his dad?

Complicated, I know --- but I consider my adopted nephew my son. Also my ex is gay and has children with a surrogate so it's all kind of familiar to me.

The little boy hardly knows me. I've only seen him a few times in his life.

If I become more involved in his life, I believe the most I can be to him is a sort of "mentor." He wouldn't see me as his grandfather---that's for sure.

Well what Blooie said is true, regardless.

My wife's son is a good guy, and a good father.

His own father was pretty much a nonentity in his life.

He absolutely dotes over the little boy. And the little boy loves him. He is his dad.

That's so sweet. The world needs more devoted, doting parents.

I won't rule out that possibility, but as I haven't really dated anyone, it will be a while before I even have a child let alone a great grandchild.

I would love to meet my ancestors. I'm a little obsessed with genealogy as a special interest. Of particular interest would be my father's mother's family who are connected to the Brontës.

If you met your ancestors what would you do with them?

I would tell them about myself.

I would be more interested in hearing my ancestors' stories than telling them mine. My ancestors were baptised by Patrick Brontë and lain to rest in the churchyard of the parsonage. Their funerals were conducted by Patrick and one by AB Nicholls, when Patrick was grieving Charlotte's death. (Arthur was Charlotte's husband). I'd have scores of questions about their lives as wool combers. There are some family tragedies I'd like to know more about, as well. I can see myself wanting to transcribe everything they say during a guided tour of their lives around Haworth.

Same as above I would ask them everything I could about everything in their lives as well as home remedies recipes etc... why they chose to convert from Hinduism when it made their lives more endangered, ask them about how they make clothes and home items, ask about farming, ask about home remedies for kids especially, and plants they grow for what purpose, people that influenced them, state of the world as they know it to be at their time, etc. . id record vocally and video and write it down a notebook. Im sure they would find it exhausting or annoying
