Enjoying reading through these, Laz. Thank you for taking the time to post. Very calming to look at, like taking a virtual tour, without the people and the noise.

Ditto that :) although I wouldn't mind seeing UK, especially the wilderness, at least once in my lifetime.

Scotland really is the only part of the UK that has any close approximation to "real" wilderness. Our national parks are artificially managed landscapes that have been kept that way since roman times (in the case of the peak district) or for hunting purposes. Our forests are very sterile of fauna compared to Scandinavia. They have such lush forests over there its a real shock to the system. Were it not for the mosquitios i would find it quite appealing to live out there in the woods :P

Yes, I wanted to add "the wilderness, or what's left of it" , but it seemed a bit offensive, since what I've seen on various media is beautiful, especially Scotland and Wales. Your parks are exquisite as well (I'm a big fan of Titchmarsh :D) and there seems to be a very highly developed gardening culture, much more than here.

Black birds are my favourite! There seems to be quite a few nesting in the proximity of my home. It's great to hear them chirping at dawn. :)

Taken in the botanical garden:

You have the bonus of living in a mediterranian climate though where you live. And bare in mind Italy nearby to you has some absolutely spectacular gardens, some influenced by english designs. There has recently been a television series about the gardens of Italy and they've made me want to go back there again and ignore the fact that I find italians overwhelming to speak too and their road system a death trap

Oh and the croatian coastline is absolutely fabulous

In the morning I'm usually woken up by Black Birds, Magpie's and the squirrels having a fight

The Cornish coastline is spectacular, as is much of Cornwall. Marazion (for St. Michael's Mount) is very nice.
Wales is very good too.

Ooh - pitcher plants (Sarracenia). Nice. I've grown some of those:

Croatian coastline is great except that in the summer time the population density equals those of India or Bangladesh. Mediterranean gardens are exquisite though, and especially the pine forests. :)

Interestingly, there's a legend that the big mountain of Velebit, which is situated close to the coastline, was (almost) made bare by those overwhelming Italians who used its wood to build Venice.

This is how it looks today (not my photo as I don't have the opportunity to go there often):

Easy-peasy - but they must be kept well watered otherwise they die very quickly.

You respond fast, ;) I didn't have time to resize, lol.

Those are near my dads house, long exposure on a clear night. The bright orange in the one is due to a vehicle light going by about 200 feet away....
