Molotov cocktails without a fuse can be made by filling a bottle with gas and two tablespoons of >98% sulfuric acid and rolling the bottle in a newspaper with potassium chlorate between. The sulfuric acid and potassium chlorate will produce chlorine dioxide, which will put the gas on fire.

20 grams of potassium perchlorate and 10 grams of German Black aluminium ( about 1 oz all in all) will blow away a Swedish road sign at least 10 meters and deform it heavily. 8)

Henry VIII and Elizabeth I banned football as it was too rough a sport. In 1588 a gentleman alarmed at the sight of his first match had to be reassured that it was only a game.

"If this be but playe," he said, "I cold wishe the Spaniardes were here to see our plaies in England. Certes they would be in bodielye fear of our warre."

While (not exactly) attending high school I inspired an afternoon's dialog on a talk radio station with my post on a who I thought TIME Magazine should pick as their Man of the Century (Gavrilo Princip: the man who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand). I also lied in my post and claimed that I was cool and had a girlfriend. The call in screener was smart and stated on air that he didn't believe me. He was right!

Contrary to popular belief, the Molotov Cocktail was invented by the Finns, not the Russians. During the buildup to World War II, when Finland refused to surrender some strategic ports to the Soviet Union, the Soviets invaded. The Finns resorted to street warfare, and would refer to the incendiary devices as "another cocktail for Comrade Molotov."

The Russians could only defeat the Finns by marching over the Finnish Bay when it was frozen and attack them in the back. 15 months later, when Germany attacked the Soviet Union, Finland joined the attack and both recaptured the ceded areas as well as capturing great parts of Russian Karelia.

By attacking the Soviet Union and crossing the pre-war border, the Finns got at war with the Western allies as well. USAF actually helped the Russians to bomb Finland later in the war. :(

Dr. Hans Asperger had many of the characteristics of the syndrome which bears his name. The label high-functioning, which still remains today to describe the ability of those with Asperger's to interact and contribute to society was originally: "high-functioning: DO NOT EXTERMINATE." Otherwise, the Nazi's would have purged those diagnosed with Asperger's along with Jews, gypsies, gays, and people with physical and mental disabilities.

It would take 50,000 DNA molecules lined up side-by-side to equal the diameter of a single human hair.

Gavrilo Princlip used a Browning pistol to assassinate Archduke Ferdinand. He also shot the Archduke's wife, having fired only two shots. He was the best shot in the "Black Hand" group that was dedicated to killing the Archduke.

Seven score and three years ago today, on November 19, 1863, Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address.

The post office was very grateful because they didn't know where Gettysburg lived, and they had a whole bunch of his mail piled up.

Near where I live there is a monument where the Queen of Scots once fell off her horse

I'm not surprised,I nearly tripped over it myself.

The elongated head-crest of the hadrosaur Parasaurolophus was very likely used as an amplification device for the dinosaur to communicate with others of its herd. Paeleontologists have conducted experiements whereby casts of the crest have had air passed through them, producing a hooting sound.

Also, recently discovered in Iowa, a species of dinosaur exists called Dracorex hogwartsia, or "Dragon King of Hogwarts". It is so named because the skull resembles that of a mythical dragon, with spikes and spines rising off the top of the cranium.

Roger Crab, the Puritan Hatter of Chesham, gave all he had to the poor in the 1650s and restricted his diet to bran broth and turnip leaves, and finally to dock leaves and grass. He lived to the then ripe old age of 59, but many of his followers went to an early grave.
