Hi Jess,

I guess I can't speak for anyone else, but mostly do not feel the way you described. It's kinda the reversal really. I am often hestitant about talking to young people because I am afraid I will not fit into there mind-set or conversation and that they might think me strange for trying, like I am trying to act young, or something. Or that I will fall into telling storys and bore you away.

There is a difference in life experience and some generational morays perhaps, but I definately like speaking with young people and it is usually a thought provoking experience. Young people see the world a little more honestly and without a lot of conditioning or entrenched ideas. (This is on a tangent but I think this objectiveness is what makes young people the best in certain forms of music, like rock, indie, rap, etc) Older folks can get so used to something they no longer can see what's wrong. Young folks can take one look and say 'What a freaking Mess!'

I am not sure, but suspect my Aspie side has contributed to this, in somehow keeping some critical parts of my thinking still fluid. It's one thing I like about it.

But as for random thoughts...

What do new immigrants to the USA think when they learn the saying "When the S*** Hits the Fan" ?

Do they think that American Bosses punish workers by throwing it into a fan so it splatters all the workers in their cubicles ?

What about "S*** Eating Grin" ?

How do we know what that looks like ?

My random thought - I'd give anything to be able to run out of the door and leave right now.

I don't understand today's celebrities. They marry and than they break up shortly after.

A reflection of general society.

I don't see the point of marriage in general, unless you are religious. A piece of paper isn't going to validate or make a relationship any better than it is. Only benefit I see from an outside point of view is certain tax brakes married couples can get.

If I ever got married it would be forever. But as I'm nearly 40 and never evern been close to being married the chances of it ever happening are looking pretty slim.

Oh well, not to worry.

I love Billy the Kid...Marilyn Monroe was an example of a beautiful strange woman.

I finally found a special interest.

Well, not so much "found" as realized that something that I've always enjoyed researching and doing definitely qualifies as a special interest. I've just never spoken about it on WP very much because I'm kind of embarrassed by it.

But since I've admitted to myself that it's my special interest, I don't see why I should keep it a secret anymore. My special interest is what's known in fan communities as "crossover pairings", which is where you take a character from one movie/TV show/book/game/whatever and imagine/draw a picture of/write about them being in a romantic relationship with a character from a different movie/TV show/book/game/whatever. I've been into this ever since I was in my early teens, before I realized it had a name.

I just love that moment where I think to myself "hey, you know who would go great together...?" and I think of an amazing pairing. :D And you know what's even more fun than making up a pairing? Making up children for it. I don't really care for official pairings within works of fiction, because I feel that making up my own pairings is more creative and enjoyable. I love lurking on deviantArt to see the crossover pairings that other people come up with, and sometimes I browse the site 2 or 3 times a day just to see if anyone has made new crossover pairing artwork.

So there you have it, my special interest. Please don't make fun of me
