Do you remember when telephone numbers started with letters?

I do!

My phone number as a child was Twickenham (TW) 6-0321 LOL

Do you remember when rotary phones were called "dial" phones, and when you had to pay extra for a touch-tone phone?

Yes and yes, and I remember that a workaround was to have a push-button phone send pulses instead of tones so the line would think it's a rotary phone and you wouldn't have to pay for tone service.

Same question.

No. My parents have a really old rotary phone though that I used to mess with as a kid.

Do you remember the first time you used the internet?

I do. I had met a guy I was crazy about (eventual boyfriend, now good friend). We were both working and I asked him how to do that thing where I could write something on my computer, and it would show up on his computer. He wasn't sure what I was talking about. I was referring to email but I didn't know what it was called. Eventually he taught me how to send an email.

Prior to that I remember hearing about the internet. I couldn't imagine what it was. I thought it was used for commercial businesses to look up inventory in other locations, for their shoppers. That was the only application I could imagine for it. Then someone told me I could see a map of where I used to live and zoom in on my street. I didn't believe them. It sounded like Big Brother.

same question

It was about 1995. Dial-up, of course! It was my mother’s old Mac computer with Windows 3.1.

It was usually too 3 or more tries before I got connected.

Same question

I didn't meet my friend until 1997. So it had to be sometime after that, when I sent the email.

I remember the content of the email was something like "One day I'll be in my spaceship and I'll tell my grandchildren that you were the first person I sent an email to".

So consider yourselves my grandchildren, in our WP spaceship. :P

Do you remember taping music from the radio, onto cassettes?

I'm very honoured to be considered your grandchild.

I do, although I didn't do it that often as it was to annoying. Plus when I hit my teens cds were becoming more and more popular.

What is a question you wish people would ask you?

Sure, you seem like a nice person and I suspect we'd have some very awkward conversations as I'm pretty shy  but if I recall we have some common interests so I'm sure we can somehow make it through.

Yes way back in the day, I even made some international calls on some.

If you could close one fast food chain what would it be?

Wendy's or Taco Time.

Do you have any region-specific fast food chains near you?

I think Sonic is only in the south. There are also lots of fried chicken places I haven't seen in the north.
