Any sparkies in the house?

I just looked in my switchboard in the garage and the switch for the stove was turned off! How did that happen? Did it automatically turn itself off yesterday after the zap and bang on the element I was using? Anyway I turned it back on (not sure if I should really be doing that) and the stove is working again

Pity. I spotted a nice almost brand new Westinghouse one at the Tender Centre today (seriously, I saw the exact same oven at the Good Guys just before I went there). It was missing one of the oven racks though.

Yes.

And is it safe to simply turn it back on?

If the problem is still there, it'll just keep on turning off.

It's safe to turn it back on.

Nothing is totally safe when you are around electricity.

She's talking about the power box and the automatic safety that switches off a specific point of power in the house if something is amiss with it.

It's safe to turn the switches on and off (they're plastic and have no power supply). Though if you're worried, just use something like a wooden stirring spoon to flick them on or off.

If they stay on after the event has been "fixed" (i.e., appliance removed or said broken part not being used), all is well.

Yeah, that's my fear. Burnt down house interior; I can totally see strata refusing to make a claim on the building insurance :x

I only have a sub-board with switches in it, the main fuse box is outside and services all 8 units (or is that...9? :P). I know the switches are safe as I turn off my HWS when I go away on holidays.

(Yes, that's 9 units.)

If what you have is the same thing as the big one, just on a smaller scale (which I'm assuming it would be), it's safe.

If something happens to the oven again, it'd just turn back off on the board (that's what they're designed to do).

Granted, I had a computer "blow up" once and it didn't flip the switch for the sockets, so..., probably not infallible.

I'm wrapped in nothing but a skimpy towel with my head covered in blue goo.

I'm buying some hunting arrows from the gun shop on Tuesday; I'll put in an afternoon of practice to get the feel again. Used to be big on archery several years ago; still have all of my bows and assorted gear (two 50 pound recurves and one 60 pound longbow). Don't have any arrows though (used to use traditional cedar ones with feathers as fletching), which is why I'm buying them of course.

People have been seeing bunnies along the road early in the morning. I don't think the neighbors would appreciate me walking up and down the road with a shotgun and letting off the thunderclap it makes if I spot one early in the morning.

Said arrows I was looking at are the typical newfangled carbon things with basic two blade broadheads already affixed (don't want field points). I'd rather those heads as I know said bunny will be dead in an instant with a center hit. Probably lose said arrow due to complete penetration, but that's ok; $20 for a bunny is worth it to me.

i wonder if clover moore won the council elections again. she probably did. she's been there for forever. i refused to even give her my forth preference on my ballot sheet(i voted greens, they said to preference her 4th on their how to vote papers). she's just scummy. 1.2 million a year, pro-business, anti-working class and it was under her that our occupy was smashed up. despite this she is a favourite in the queer community because she sucks up to us, especially to the queer middle class.

also i wonder if the fire in the national park was back burning or an actual fire. it was huge, or at least the smoke covering the entire sky made it seem so.
