by any chance can you sing "Manhã de Carnaval?" that is my fave song in Portuguese. :dj:

i've not heard any songs i like [so far] sung in Catalan, perhaps there is something in the folky or classical realm [their equivalent of lieder] that will make me smile. also both are TOUGH languages for amuuuricans to learn or even try to pronounce correctly. but there is a lilting rhythm about Portuguese that carries me along with it.

choose one-
speak russian
or
speak icelandic?

I'll have to admit that I'm not familiar with that song, or any other in the genre, probably. I don't really listen to Brazilian music these days, and when I did it was usually some type of rock. Or this, or this.

Can confirm. Portuguese pronunciation is very tricky, yes. Lots of shape-shifting vowels.

icelandic?

Another one of my mostly fruitless "teach-yourself" phases. (Talarðu íslensku? :D) I used to want to travel to Iceland before it was trendy, these days I'm not so keen on the idea anymore, considering how crowded the more interesting/accessible spots may be.

DSL says russian is just about the toughest language to learn, aside from thai. so i'll take my chances with icelandic. cluelessly, of course.

choose one-
watch "summer lovers"
or
"war and peace"

Whichever is shorter with fewer characters.
