Got to start playing :) I hate it that we have to get old - wish I was a vampire :)

here is some random trivia, like promised.

The longest word in the English language, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. The only other word with the same amount of letters is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconioses, its plural.

from the very reliable source of wiki; Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, "a factitious word alleged to mean 'a lung disease caused by the inhalation of very fine silica dust, causing inflammation in the lungs.'" A condition meeting the word's definition is normally called silicosis.

QI Fact of the Day

When the potato first reached England, a potato-tasting banquet was given at the court of Queen Elizabeth I. Only the leaves and stems of the potatoes (which contain a poison called solanine) were served. All the guests became ill and left early.

QI Quote of the Day

"Now that the guest is gone who only came to shelter from the rain, here is the big potato for you, my son."

On the subject of vegetables:

There were no orange carrots until the 17th Century, when the Dutch cultivated them to have this colour for political reasons. Carrots used to be available in red and yellow, but not orange. You can also buy purple, black, and white carrots.

The pineapple also has a quite interesting social history. But it's not a vegetable.
