That pic remind me of some the experiments I did with media & texture in art school. I mucked about a lot the print workshop playing with mono & silk screen. I found my cheep digital camera before & was playing around with it taking a few snaps of the my sill life work to test my camera.

I spent a good deal of time researching the work of Henri Matisse, & its rubbed off on to the painting style.
One tutor at art school comment about my style as a unique mix of Matisse and Oskar Kokoschka

Here is a section study of I did in gouache on paper of Matisse's 1947 Red Interior Still Life on Blue Table
