I wonder if dinosaurs would wear socks with humans on them?

The cool ones probably would. They get tired of the same old boring solid green socks. They'd say "the humans wear socks with bacon on them because they find it delicious...I find humans delicious, therefore my socks should reflect that."

Well thank you! I'll be the best you've ever met!

I'll likely make a small baggie for crack fabric softener.

My second project will be one of these. ^

I've tried YouTube already, but I'm not a visual learner. I need written instructions so I bought some books with colour diagrams, a bunch of different sized hooks, and many colours of yarn.

I'm an accomplished knitter but my mind can't adapt to the concept of just having one hook.

Dinosaurs are so eminently logical and sensible.
Humans, on the other hand, wear dinosaur socks frivolously:

Why do you wear dinosaur socks?

Cuz I like dinosaurs!
Look at their little arms!
So cute!

I'm opposite; I can knit but it takes a lot of brain power with two needles.
Crochet I could do in my sleep.

These type of visual patterns may be good for you, isa, once you learn the basics:

8O

Thanks!
That looks rather intimidating, but I'm sure it's not.

Some of my knitting patterns looked like advanced calculus, and I had to do mathematics to work them through.

My dad taught me to knit. I'm eager to crochet all sorts of octopi and lampshades.

:P

That sounds daunting! That's the kind of stuff I get overwhelmed by (when there's a ton of heavy preparation involved) and then I give up. I'm impressed by people who can push through it.

Kind of off topic:
I would like to try embroidery some day, but I haven't been able to follow through on even buying supplies because I can't decide on which threads to get. :P

Just cooking dinner but still checking in.
Let me know if you smell burning.

My grandmother did lovely embroidery.
Colonial brand needles were best, apparently.
