Fey applied to a job that was just posted 2 days ago and got a (non-automated) response from the guy the next day saying they were in a hiring freeze. WTF? Why did you just post the job then?

And of course you never hear back from the big companies no matter how qualified you are. Who knows how many of those postings were already filled when they were posted online. How's anyone supposed to get anywhere in this place?

If there's a hiring freeze in Canada, I'll be selling my unique goods at the flea market.

I'm learning that there are all kinds of scummy reasons why they post "phantom" job listings that they don't actually intend to fill. Things like making investors believe the company is actively growing, or to appear they are an equal opportunity employer by considering all applicants, when they actually already chose someone. The system is so messed up. How do these people sleep at night?!

I'm sick of doctors telling me I'm depressed.
I know I'm depressed.
They think the only fix is drugs.

^ Doctors can be really dense. They prefer to solve problems with bandaids. For this reason I lie when the GP asks if I've experienced any depression lately. It's like, well obviously - look at all of this s**t I'm dealing with -- but no amount of conversations with you nor your meds are going to resolve my housing/work/etc issues.
