For me- I grew up with cats, and at the age of 7 I got my very own cat. For the past 15 years he has grown up with me and has been a far better friend than any human. His purring and the feel of his fur soothes me when I need to be soothed and he plays games with me when no one else will.

It's 6 weeks this weekend since my darling old boy passed on and I miss him as much now as then. I am still haunted by the horror of it and the pain he suffered. It really hurts my heart. My new cat is learning to trust and it's good to provide the care and home he needs, though it doesn't ease the loss of my dearest friend in this world.

B19, you did the best for your old friend and I'm sorry you are still hurting. :(
My previous cat's passing 12 years ago still troubles me but I do take comfort in knowing I got the vet to end his suffering quickly as you kindly did for your friend.

I've loved cats for as long as I could remember. But for years I couldn't have a cat because my mom is allergic so I'd want to visit any one else who had kitties. I now have two cats of my own, I've had them for maybe 8 or 9 years now. I am not much of a dog person although I like dogs that are friendly and such. But people seem to think all dogs are friendly and sweet and never dangerous or vicious, even when their dogs attack and kill innocent people and other pets, and that makes me furious, while they think all cats are cold and aloof and too independent. My two cats are very sweet and affectionate. I read not long ago that house cats may be be becoming more dependent on their owners because not long ago people didn't let their cats indoors or they'd put them out for the night but now that cats are being kept inside more often they're becoming friendlier. I just hope they don't get up there with dogs who are basically like willing slaves who need constant attention, ha.

I adore cats and make friends with them easily, though I love all critters even bugs. I have been around cats sense I was born and think they taught me things when I was little. I adore them and have charmed many a cat in my life. I love the talkers, as well as ones that are cuddle bugs, I could never live without them for long.

I remember one short situation from one of my exams. The lecturer said that the dog may warm human's body. One of women said (something like) "or a cat" (Polish: "albo kot")... And the lecturer said: "Cat is small" ("Kot jest mały"). So a domestic kitty can not give us as many heat as dog's body (at least a larger dog's body) because sweet purring animal is just smaller... But the meowies can be very cute and cuddly. Their nice appearance may give the feeling of "sweetness" easily.

Do you suppose that Aspies (especially females) have larger tendencies to like cats more than average person?

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=884_1186846024 (Moscow's Cat Lady). I might think: "co za kociara!" ("what a cat lady!"). It could look like cloud of cats... These animals are nice and sweet...
