An alternative to the "What if we're all living in a dream?" postulate is,

"What if our reality is really someone's simulation?".

I remember reading an argument that this is VERY likely to be true, using Bayes' theorem. I think it goes something like this: If humans don't go extinct before developing the technology to run computer simulations of their evolutionary history, they are likely to use the technology to make many many simulations of this nature. Using probability and Bayes' theorem, it is very very likely that we're living in a simulation if humans won't go extinct before developing the tech. (Because there will be so many simulated worlds compared to the "real" world.)

Are Nightmares a vision of Hell its self... Self guilt or somthing More?

Darkness when there shouldnt be when you think thing cant get any worse it can get a lot wores farther then you can imagen.

Nightmares are instructive; they are perfect fear. They distill exactly the most dreaded aspects of life into a pure form. The existential terror, the uncertainty... nightmares cause all of my most fascinating emotions. They are the most interesting aspect of my life sometimes.

Dreams ultimately can only display aspects of our mind, symbolically or through random activation or whatever. Nightmares are just the darkness bubbling up. What is interesting is the intensity in which they occur compared to the almost flat nothingness of non-nightmares. Does the unconscious mind too attempt to compartmentalize its pain? But then it is concentrated.

The Night Terror is something which twoshots does not get, but which fascinate him. Pure horror, the emotion without trigger, the grip of the mind turned against itself. Lost inside of myself, alone.

twoshots nightmares are generally about the schism from reality, becoming lost in a supernatural hallucinatory realm. Protracted visions of incomprehensible surreality with extreme, persistent unease. A little like the video in Ringu. Other themes are demons, ghosts, isolation, being enveloped, them coming for me. But then twoshots is always alone in his dreams; he never dreams of other people as more than npcs or adversaries.

Nearly all dreams I remember lately are nightmares.

I've had many, owned many.

Used to have a lot of dreams where I would hunt and search and work and finally get that ultimate possession and then wake up and not finding it.

These days I try to have nice dreams about intangible goals like kicking someones butt or eating really great ice cream.
