I guess it could be worse, but it isn't the best place in the world!
I'd like to go somewhere rural, personally.

I'm guessing there's lots of people. Rural areas tend to be so peaceful. I'd like to go just one week without hearing gunshots and sirens.

not too far away from each other!
Ok, yeah, I'm being a little extreme with the top example.

I remember watching on BBC the riots were in other cities besides London. That must of been awful for the people living anywhere near where that happened. I was really worried about a guy I know who lives over there. I was hoping that the people I knew from WP who lived over there were safe too. I didn't understand why it took the police so long to actually get serious about stopping all of that looting and burning of peoples homes and businesses and arrest all those punks. Were you close to what was happening in Greater Manchester?

Where is the bottom photo, it's beautiful?

Not really - apart from me being in Greece at the time! :P

The bottom photo is the Lake District - beautiful area, I must say. 60 miles north of here.

Lucky you to both! :)

Are there any particularly nice areas near you?

Concerning the weather right now, the temperature is dropping like a stone this evening.
Looks like an unsettled week on the forecast, with highs around 14 (57) and lows around 8 (46).

There's a frost advisory for tonight here in Michigan. It would be nice to kill the ragweed off and end my allergies. Don't think it's going to get cold enough for that though. Predicted low is 36 F (2 C).

Ah, I love the first frost - it's probably a short while off yet, though probably not so in rural and hilly areas.

Normal first frost happens in the middle of October here. It's unseasonably cool right now, after being hot most of the summer.

That's interesting. I am also very curious on what this winter will bring, throughout the northern hemisphere.

Sorry, I had to sign off because of thunderstorms. I'm going to sign off again because more is coming over my area. Virginia Beach is nice. We have some historic places that are great too. I'll be back later to complete my reply.

Norfolk and Portsmouth both have historic districts that are really cool. We have an old church downtown that has a British cannonball stuck in a wall from the American Revolution that's really cool. Then there's Williamsburg and Washington DC and Baltimore. There are a number of battle sites from the American Revolution and Civil War.

Virginia has a great many beautiful places in areas close to the mountains like the Shenandoah Valley and all around Charlottesville and more. I love the Chesapeake Bay. I could go on and on but I'll stop here.

It's actually cool right now - mostly cloudy, it's 62°F with 45% humidity and wind from the NNE at 24 mph with gusts at 30 mph.
