my friend who im teaching arabic says to me this morning: i think im becoming arab. when i say the letter h in english i say hhhh(strong sound from back of throat) so its like hhhhello. i thought it was funny. i guess its like me rolling my r after i spend too long thinking or speaking in arabic. im so proud of him. but he must weird people out.

i learned today that the word "lol" is not very effective when used in verbal communication, especially if you say it with a neutral expression on your face.

i become rapidly nauseated when i listen to arabs talking arabic. it sounds as if they are hocking up phlegm when they say words with the letter "h" in them. it is like you can "hear" the shape of their tongue as it is pressed into the roof of their soft palate as they force air through that occlusion in order to obtain a specific phonetic timbre.

i am glad my language does not call for such glottic gymnastics, because i am queasy often.

I can hardly understand a word she is saying, but it is a very cute ad. :)
