I'm going to make some shooting sticks -- seems like a good idea. Two "sticks" tied together at the center and placed on the ground, with the bases of each spread out to create an "X" shape when you're holding it in front of you. You then place the foreend of the rifle in the top notch of the "X". Instant stable position. I'll make a shortish one as I like to sit when aiming small.

I always just sit down with my elbows on my knees, which is pretty stable, but the sticks should make it like a bipod/mechanical rest.

Why does FB get more updates about my niece than her grandparents, uncle and aunty do?

Why is it all the supermarkets have like 7 different brands of frozen peas, but none of them sell soya beans? *huffs*

Despite the fact that I don't actually know the right way to pronounce "Sciuridae", the people that pronounce the first syllable as "skwur" bother me.

As regards pronouncing scientific names, it helps if one's native language is phonetic like mine is. I simply pronounce Sciuridae the way it's written and allow for a long [eh] sound at the end. -- This may not be the correct way to say it in an English context, but in nature documentaries American scientists tend to pronounce taxonomical terms as if they were speaking Latin.

A Good Day to Die Hard - 15% on Rotten Tomatoes

Critics, we need to have a talk.

Ever since I found out that Diane Rehm from NPR was the inspiration for the voice of Granny from Squidbillies, that's all I hear when she's on the radio. At any moment I expect her to say to one of her guests, "Let's put cough drops in our buttholes and play viddy games!"

there should be road signs that warn you to beware of oncoming road signs.

i recently noticed that my attention was diverted from the act of driving for an extended period (more than 10 seconds) by a flurry of road signs that spelled out the road rules, route directions, speed limits and toll amounts etc, and i was infuriated that i had to come to complete halt and reverse back up to read them all, and i was very nearly "rear ended" by people who were not as interested as i was about the directions written on the signs..
