It's alcohol, so yes, it can contribute to people getting cancer. Doesn't matter if it's beer wine whiskey gin light beer stout whatever - alcohol is alcohol. Drink enough of it and it does bad things to your health.

My dad's a lot older than me at 64. He's on holiday in Spain for a friends wedding but he was telling me how he was drinking from 12 lunchtime to 3 in the morning yesterday.

My dad has been drinking since he was 18 and has made it to 64 without developing cancer. That said he hardly ever visits the doctor.

Just because it increases cancer risks doesn't mean if you drink you're certainly going to develop cancer. That's not how increased risk works. It simply means there's a higher chance. All sorts of other factors contribute from diet to chemical exposure to genetics etc etc etc. But heavy drinking does increase one's chances, just like smoking cigarettes does.

Tall people are at a higher risk develop cancer too because they have more cells in their body. I knew a guy who was 6ft1 and weighed 200 pounds. He was the fittest person I ever knew/never drunk a drop of alcohol in his life nor smoked yet he died of cancer in his late 40s.

Do you have any idea how probability statistics work? Or of the concept that correlation does not equal causation? :?

If you have 3.5 percent and mix it with medication in theory does the abv of the beer go way up?

I am on ariprazole, beta blocker propanolol, setrailine and lorazapam for anxiety.

It should say in the leaflet that comes with the meds whether you should avoid alcohol. I'm on Olanzapine for Schizophrenia
and it says on the packet 'do not drink alcohol' but I looked it up on the NHS website and it just says it might make you sleepy which I like as I tend to drink in the evenings and take my Olanzapine then so hopefully the combination will help me sleep better.
