In countries like France or Italy, breakfast usually consists of a pastry-roll or croissant with coffee or sometimes hot chocolate. In other European countries, bread rolls or sandwiches are preferred. These, and other variants, are known as "Continental".
This contrasts greatly with the "Full English" type cooked breakfast favoured in the UK, comprising bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, fried bread etc, usually preceded by cereals and followed by toast with marmalade or jam. I much prefer the Full English!
