In the first, largely unaired episode of 'Barney and Friends,' a group of neighborhood children find an old book bound in human skin in the attic of an abandoned house they have broken into intending to set fires. When the older children begin reading from the book, a strand of eerie purple vapor can be seen trickling in through the keyhole behind them, curling in the heavy air and pooling in the shadows, until it takes the form of a squat, purple homunculus with an ill-defined mouth full of crude and brutish teeth that gleam dully in the crepuscular attic gloom. The figure grows in size and mass until it towers over the heedless children still riveted to the monstrous drawings burned into the pages of the ancient book. The camera pans slowly back, exiting through the keyhole as the children begin to scream...
