Here's a few images from the Scarborough Renaissance Festival.

Love those from Scarborough Faire. Is that armor in the Flemish style? The head-on angle of the horse and rider is quite striking.

I have to ask: Were you using a long lens on that last shot? Or were you right there in sword's reach? I like the composition a lot.

I'm by no means a photographer, but I wanted to post this here anyway. Taken late last night...

He's an Alligator Lizard.

I don't normally take very good pictures. That one was kind of a fluke, but I'm definitely proud of it.

reptiles are neat. i like snakes a lot too.

honestly, sometimes i have to take 10 crappy pictures to get one single good one (or more if i am doing self-portraits). some people can just point and shoot and get a series of gems every time, but i am not like that at all. flukes FTW!

I took about 5 shots and two were pretty good. I just chose the better of the two. So, I guess I am a photographer.

I don't have that great of a camera, though. It's just a small Sony one that I can point and click since a lot of high tech gadgets confuse me. I'd have to say I love photography, though. I love taking pictures... in case that hasn't become obvious these past couple of weeks.

At one point I saw a photographer state that any single piece of film only creates one good photograph. On a 35mm role, 1 in 36 will be good. On a medium format roll, 1 in 10 or 1 in 12 will be good. For a large format camera, every one had better be good!

I'm afraid of what this means for digital. I've got a 32GB card in my camera... Err... Does that mean one in a thousand is worth salvaging?

The pro studios I was involved with at one point tended to use Polaroid for test shots and only went to the large format (4" x 5") exposures once things were set up correctly.

With film, I tended to consider each shot more carefully beforehand so the limit of 36 exposures was quite useful and I got a better 'hit' rate.
Of course with digital each shot can still be considered as carefully, but with (practically) an infinite number of shots available it becomes rather too easy to just snap away without much thought - resulting in the seemingly endless sifting through the results after the shoot.
Not sure what my current hit rate is, but I'd guess it's about 60% good and drops to about 10% for the real 'keepers'.

Reasonable prices (0,33l bottles of Super Bock Stout were €0.54 (47p, making it 80p a pint for a 5% schwarzbier) and much more choice than the pub down the road, where the equivalent of a pint of Sagres is £3.55, making it considerably more expensive to drink there than a pub where I live, where the price of a pint of lager is about £3:
