What happened to Willard?

I am fond of Willard but when he's angry he can't listen to constructive criticism. He pm'd me a link to that thread. I didn't realize it

was a link until after I had responded. I do think he was out of line and people made some valid points that he was too upset to

hear. He just needs to realize you don't have to be sarcastic when telling someone a "brutal truth". It's a difficult skill for

anyone, AS or NT but it's worth the effort. I usually keep my mouth shut even if I'm upset so I can think about what I want to say

and how I want to say it. Willard is smart and funny and I like his edginess and I hope he comes back around.

he sent me the link as well, i was actually reading the thread whilst it was active, too, and now i wish i had contributed to it, because i do think somebody should have just pointed out how constructive, well thought through and "clairvoyant" willard's posts are.
everybody can have a meltdown (and in my eyes that's what it looked like), for crying out loud this is an autistic forum after all, there are plenty of people to "iron" out the "emotional creases" willard's way of behaving might have left on the OP of the thread. This would have been an excellent opportunity to show mutual support and understanding and what the forum is about.
anyway, she seemed mature and levelheaded enough to listen to what everybody had to say and take on board what she thought useful.
in the end it is us, who lost out big time by willard leaving the forum.
sadly enough he took this step and i hope so much he returns, for every time i log on i hope to see one of his cutting edge posts, which often make me laugh out loud, most of the times smile and always think.

I think he'll be back. I also think he came back sooner than he intended last time and needs a longer break than he realized. From what I understand he's being very productive while he's off WP. I hope he comes back too. Funny and smart are an unbeatable combination.

this is true, - he might just NOT sit in the corner and lick his metaphorical wounds, but get something creative done en bloc without the emotional drain, that WP can be ( and i mean this not in a negative sense at all, just that when i log off from here a thousand posts are buzzing in my head and need to be thought about, which often is a drain on my already meagre emotional resources, may these thoughts be uplifting or depressing ).

He's been working on a book and had talked about being blocked about a particular character. When he checked back in last time ( by PM to me and others), he said he had been writing again. I think he's doing what is healthy for him for now. I wish him well.
