Yeah, 'ice beers' tend to be strong. The whole idea is that some of the water is frozen and removed, leaving behind a product with a stronger taste and higher alcohol content.

I find they're generally tastier than malt liquor but just as potent.

It is, considering the standard beer is 5%.. however, it's still far from the strongest as there are many offerings higher than that. They're just not high volume mainstream things. Usually small batch craft brews of high alcohol content beers.
