Just getting towards the end of a bottle of Grapevine Cabernet Sauvignon, an Aldi own-label cheap red wine. As good as you can expect for just over £4.

We will also have a cheese tray and assortment of crackers , cream puffs , black olives , crab legs , fruit , and other goodies .We plan on eating and drinking for several days.
Perfect weather its 74 or 23 c.Still color on the trees.
If it wasn’t so dry I’d set off some fireworks I have stashed back.
Wish I could send some drinks and food your way.

There are a handful of rather popular selling peach beers around here. They've become a Summer staple. I mean, they're not as popular as lagers or anything, but they're not exactly niche unknown microbrews, either. One of them from a local brewer is on tap at quite a few places.

I drink alllllll kinds of beers and flavoured beers and quite like the wide variety of fruit flavoured ones. Peach, cherry, blackberry, raspberry etc etc - raspberry's another that a few different locals make. In part it's gotta simply be because there's an abundance of berries & fruit grown all over the Province so there are tons of local fruits to choose from before even considering something imported.

Google maps says it's a 1 day 9 hour drive. Initial route shown is 3,641km but it has 2 tolls.. the other route shown, that stays farther North, is 3,643kms with no tolls and saves 1% gas But takes 34 minutes longer to drive. They show 7 & 5 radar traps each, so can't really do much over the speed limit. Around 5 and a bit tanks of gas each way, so $1200 or so for fuel return. Hmmm.. decisions decisions. (probably cheaper to park at an airport in Washington state and fly.)

I'll just have to dream about being there.

That looks fun. Happens during my birthday, too - would be quite the party. Would be a hell of a long ride.. never rode back to back long days so that'd be interesting. On the days I've ridden about 700kms in a day, by the end if I was pretty stiff and sore and didn't feel like riding the next day lolol buuuuut I do have brand new custom suspension in the bike now, so I'm curious what it's gonna be like after a long day of riding now - maybe easier. Also, I know from doing physical work and exercise that even being stiff and sore the next morning if ya just get up and start moving you can get right back to whatever the hell you were doing so it's not impossible. Would likely take at least 6 days each way.. maybe 7, but maybe 5-6 depending on how physically easy it is to just keep rolling across flat land vs. navigate turns through mountains like my long days here. I know some guys ride like 900km+ in a day on their big highway bikes, maybe even 1000.

What would cost $1200 + maybe an oil change in my car + any damage (lol I had some road trip damage to cars.. would have been cheaper to fly!) would cost probably $2500ish to ride the motorcycle. Gas tends to cost More in the motorcycle to get ethanol free, a ~7300km trip would wear out a set of tires by ~80%, would burn a bit of oil + an oil change, and would be half way to a 15k major tune-up service. (everything motorcycles costs more than cars unless you ride a very small fairly new Japanese bike then maybe it's cheaper than driving a small car.) I'd pray for no rain and sleep under the stars/in a small tent to avoid motel expenses lolol that'd add another grand or so to the trip easily. + ofc the time off whatever work I was doing for a couple weeks and now it'd be a several thousand dollar trip. Would have to be one hell of a bbq party to justify the trip!

Had a few drinks at a friend’s yesterday. He’s a full blown alcoholic. Probbaly averages a dozen beers a day at the beach, sometimes more. Claims he only drinks one or two on days he’s at home but that’s bs probably more like 6 or 8. He’s 51 and I bet it’ll dig him an early grave.

Went to Morrisons supermarket recently and saw what looked like an interesting offer: a box of 8 x 440ml cans of 'Brewdog Black Heart' stout for £11, or 2 boxes for £17. How could one go wrong with this, I thought. Bought 2 boxes, worked out at £1.06 per can.

Regretting it a bit now. The beer turns out to be just 4.1% alcohol, has a rather watery taste, and packs no punch whatsoever. Not impressed by Brewdog, who seem to be major players in the 'Craft Beer' game, not the first time I've been underwhelmed by one of their offerings. Come to think of it, the Craft Beer phenomenon as a whole looks to be a bit of a rip-off.

Maybe if you drink very basic lagers or pilsners. Then I don't see a reason to pay a premium when surely a handful of different mass brewed options will suffice for much less money.

But when it comes to IPA's and various flavoured beers, they're often only made in small batches.. and sometimes of very expensive ingredients depending on their global popularity at the time. Some hops cost multiples more money when they're the Hot flavouring of the year to buy & brew with.

So, if you're into "gourmet," offerings.. then it may be very well worth the money to buy a single or a 6 pack or a mixer pack that has a variety of different beers in it from the same brewery.

But if the goal is to get drunk at the lowest possible price, then no, craft beers are not usually a good choice.
