The last set of pictures are from your state, LOL! I visited Seattle two summers ago for a week. So far, Mt. Rainier is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in person. I might be going back this summer. All of my other pictures are from here. The distinguishing natural wonder here, is Lake Erie:

Here is another one for you! This is a snapshot of a video I took of the recent flooding here(choose 480p for better viewing):

A colonnade at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, in London.
(a beautiful building designed by Sir Christopher Wren)

I liked the way the shadows echo the ceiling mouldings.

I would enjoy having a high quality photo and video editor. Are you photographing those flowers with a black drop cloth in the background? They are beautiful. I hope this thread doesn't die! It might relegate itself to just Cornflake and me, lol.

You can download 'GIMP' for free. It's a little quirky in operation but still very functional: http://www.gimp.org/
I use Photoshop just because it's what I'm most used to.

Yep, a black velvet cloth usually 3 feet or so behind the subject. Coupled with using a spot exposure and either a ring light or other 'local' lighting, the background simply goes away.
I like that as an effect because all distractions are removed and it pushes the subject forwards.

Thanks!
If all else fails we'll just make this into a rolling ASMJT/Cornflake art gallery.

I particularly liked this one of yours:

Stop selection levers on a small Harrison organ in the Lady Chapel at Ely Cathedral.
Nice warm light, nice woodgrain.

I'll look into GIMP, thanks for the tip! I have an affinity for night photography, and time-lapse. I have been experimenting with it recently. It is very tedious using my Sony DSC-H20. It is only a slight upgrade from a point-and-shoot, as it has aperture, shutter speed, and iso settings, respectively. I have to carefully time my exposure because the light sensor doesn't do too well with higher ISO settings. It's very noisy. I am envious of my brother's Nikon D5000! Oh well; someday, somehow!

I haven't tried night photography - the nearest has been a few sunsets.
The light through those icicles is very nice.

I mostly use my Nikon D3 which has very little noise, and coupled with an f2.8 lens flash isn't normally required at all. The output from my other cameras (mostly retired now) did need some treatment occasionally, and I can thoroughly recommend 'Noise Ninja': http://www.picturecode.com/

Here's a macro shot taken with my Nikon Coolpix CP4500 - which I suppose is now ancient technology.
