My mother never loved me. And she was cordially hated by her sisters, of whom she was the fourth born out of 5.

My mom is also my boss at work! She's the general manager, I'm the assistant manager. We work together quite well.

My mom was a straight-A student and graduated near the top of her class with a degree in Anthropology, but chose to work at Kroger's so that she could spend more time with me and keep us in one place. She still works there, because she has such seniority that she's built up great benefits and has FIVE WEEKS of vacation a year. She's one of everyone's favorite employees, and her bosses/coworkers/customers all love her. She can get away with teasing the managers to their faces because none of them have been there as long as her, and she's pretty much the glue that holds the place together.

My dad is an engineer with Proctor & Gamble, has several patents, is in a VERY high income bracket - like, stinking rich income bracket. His large child support checks enabled my mom to raise me in a middle-class income bracket, and still spend lots of time with me by keeping the aforementioned retail job at Kroger's. He is known for his immaturity, short temper, and gentle disposition. I am pretty sure that, despite his cheer & outgoing personality, he is AS. His temper problems are actually more like meltdowns.

My mom and dad stayed friends after their divorce and did things together with me so that I never felt the stress that some children of divorces feel, despite the fact that my father married my step mom very soon after they separated.

My mom buys broken toys and stuffed animals so that they'll have a loving home, instead of being thrown away.

I once got my dad a jar of "fart putty" (kind of like Gak, if anyone knows that stuff, in a small jar and when you press your thumb into it, the air pushed out makes a very believable fart sound) and he played with it constantly until it eventually dried out. He would make it fart and then just sit there snickering happily to himself.

My mom is agnostic and encouraged me from a young age to find the religion that most agreed with my heart, allowing me to explore various churches in the neighborhood and helping me find information about them whenever I was curious.

My dad is the only somewhat conservative Republican that I can actually have intelligent, well thought-out debates with, and can hold his ground with me in areas of philosophy - which most people, aside from my philosophy professors, are unable to do.

And both my parents are superawesome and I love them and am very proud of them.

You are truly blessed. I found out about having AS in 2004. I found out about my mother having BPD this year. Still processing the unbelievable cruelty of my childhood and young adult years.

The house that my parents own was featured in several papers around the time of the 2004 US presidential elections, as a barn that used to stand on their land now resides in the Rockies as part of Senator John Kerry's holiday home.

Also, both of my parents kick ass :)

My mother's name is Teresa because her mother who didn't know what name her little girl should have, had a dream in which she saw a painting of a saint of this name.

My mother's hair is completely white under the brown dye, and she's been dying it for years.
