Not particularly, but it does tend to end up having the final say...

Have you ever read any books that had a profound impact on your identity or beliefs? If so, what were their titles?

None really, unless you want to count a first year Biochemistry text. I read for information or for enjoyment. I am naturally skeptical of anything that attempts to influence or convert me. It could be that I just haven't read the right books.



Could you ever see yourself in a position of leadership? How do you think you would handle it?

I really doubt it, as I'm not a natural leader by any measure. I don't have the self-confidence or the charisma to exercise a genuine air of authority over people, and I'm also rather a weak and anxiety-prone person who panics easily when faced with too much responsibility.

From that, I think we can all conclude that I'd handle it rather badly.

Do you see any value in tradition for its own sake?

Yes I do, though I must admit that I didn't really care for doing something that is done just because that is how it always has been done. I think there is merit in passing things down and having a way to connect with similar people that helps people deal with a chaotic world.


Who gets you (understands you) the most and who doesn't get you at all?

My boyfriend understands me the most. I'm not really sure if I could list anyone who doesn't get me at all, because most of the people I know who might fall under that category haven't been told a great deal about me.

What fascinates you, and why?

Most things in nature fascinate me when I stop to think about them: The complexity and interrelatedness of the different systems of the Earth; wondering what wild cows would be like (I really keep meaning to look up the history of cows); how damage to a certain area of the brain can cause a person to speak gibberish while feeling like they were speaking normally; et cetera. It is hard to pinpoint why, though.

Lots of stuff especially if it is science related. However, sometimes I will sit or lie on the ground in a park and notice all the life going on that I normally don't pick up. Industrious insects and sometimes life and death wars fought right underfoot, plants arranging themselves like antennae to pick up the most sunlight, water carving sections of the least resistant earth in intricate designs as it flows along, and inquisitive birds, who seem to meet your eye contact, competing with playful squirrels for discarded crumbs, all seem to reset my focus and point it outwards and help me realize I am not just an isolated being bumping along.
