This is just a matter of curiosity, nothing more :)

I wonder how many of you actually read things like that - I usually dont... if I weren't a moderator I probably wouldn't have, so I voted no.

If you didn't read them before you saw the above link, but have now, that counts as a "no" (but thanks for reading them :D )

.............................................................................................

This is not a ploy to get you to read the rules

I usually don't read the rules until I find myself posting a lot at a site. Even then, I skim over. The only site that I'd read the rules to first is a private torrent site.

I've read the rules here. :)

I would, but I'm still reading the Health & Safety rules my boss gave me 6 months ago :p

I skimmed over them

The rules for any forum are pretty much the same, don't really need to know anything for posting replies. If I was to do something which has the potential to be a rule breaker (ie certain topics, wanting to go directly link to a 10MB picture) I'd refer to there before doing it. Other then that, if you know the rules to one forum that wants to be family friendly, you know the rules to all of them.

They're much the same as any online group rules.

I sure haven't.

The rules only have like 1,000 views anyway I think, considering there's 27,000 of us I say that's a pretty bad turnout.

I think there's one at the top of every forum, not just Random Discussion, unless they're all somehow linked.

No, I did not. Considering most forum rules are what I percieve as common decency. I've only once read a forum's rules and that was the very first forum I joined, the rules seemed so obvious and it baffles me still that some people can't grasp the simple notion of not being a complete twat on the internet.

I read every contract I sign, and clicking "I agree" is essentially the same thing as signing a contract. I will admit that I don't always fully agree to every contract I sign, but I don't sign anything unless I understand it. I've found myself owing large amounts of money in the past by not reading the fine print, and it's just smarter to know what you're up against before becoming becoming unpleasantly surprised further down the road.

Reading the fine print is especially important on the internet, one of the best ways to prevent spam is to make sure that you don't sign up for anything that will sell your personal information to marketing companies. There's lots of other things that often end up in the fine print that you should be aware of, like places where you're waiving any legal right to sue or press charges, or where you're opening yourself up to be sued. The best way to avoid these kinds of issues is to read everything you either sign or click "agree" to.

Also, there's stuff you'll never notice unless you read the fine print, like that when you install iTunes, part of the fine print from Apple's EULA is a clause prohibiting the use of iTunes software for the control of nuclear weapons.

I haven't read the rules, but that's because most forums seem to have the same basic rules , which I already know.

Ditto here, like everyone else said, every forum I've been to seems to have the same set of rules.

Of course, I will try to read the rules if said forum has rules about activities that might possibly be lawbreaking (file sharing forums, stuff like that).

No, I was too lazy to read all of it. I have read what mods have posted in threads they have closed though. :P

I think I understand what flies and what doesn't though, I joined over a year ago and I'm still here. :P
