Anyone else into these sort of things, and if so care to share pictures and tell the story of what intrigued you into getting it?

How do you spell that tuber that grows underground, usually brown, sometimes mashed or baked? A blight forced a lot of Irish out or Ireland to America...

I'm a big fan of body art. I haven't made the leap myself yet, but I admire it.

Body piercings and the whole modification thing I'm not that into. Not against it, but not my thing =P, gets a bit wierd for my tastes.

But in same boat as Celtic, dont have any, but love and admire good work. If I ever had the time and money i'd do like a whole sleave or something, or maybe just down to elbow and spread on back. But i'm impatiant and uninspired. If i get a good idea in my head and a few weekends with the patiance to sit around and find a good person I can trust i'll drop the dimes to do it.

I have a few tattoos and a few piercings. I have an ankh on my shoulder, wanted it since I was 12 and as soon as I turned 18 I went and got it done. I have a little flower on my stomach (WTF??) that I got when I was drunk (was 19). I am not very girly so no idea why I picked that. But, I like it. I am not often spontaneous so I enjoy seeing it as it shows I can be spontaneous :)

I also have a "slag tag" on my back, vine type thing. I got this when I was drunk when I was living in Ireland (when I was 20). I always thought tattoo shops could not tattoo drunk people but I guess they wanted the cash ;) I like this design and it reminds me of a fun time in my life. The person who came with me had sobered up by the time mine was done and never got hers done in the end!

My piercings are few - four in one ear, two in the other and a belly button ring. My belly button I pierced myself when I was 15 but I did a terrible job so got it done properly.

I will probably get a few more ear piercings and I want a little blue-ring octopus tattoo on my foot but I have to sit out diving for a bit after I get it done so it is not damaged, so have not had it done yet.

It's a potato, not a potatoe. Just as it's tattoos, not tattooes.

I have a septum piercing, I like sharing something that a lot of cultures sport and many cultures feature the septum piercing. I also like that I can hide it. I've had it for years and it's the only rebellious thing I've ever done. It hurt, and the entire thing was uncomfortable (including swabbing my nose with alcohol) but the entire experience was liberating :) I only have that piercing, and one piercing in each ear :P

I have a great distaste toward bodyart. I think tattoos and piercings (except earrings) degrade the body and covers it up needlessly. I'm a great supporter of the absolute natural.

I dig tattoos. I don't like the look/idea of being covered in tattoos (although some sleeves are awesome, just not for me), but the interplay between the body and a couple medium-sized tattoos I think is great. I have 5 (2 on my left arm, 1 on my right arm and 2 on the left side of my chest) and I'll probably get 3 or 4 more before I'm through.

Piercings aren't for me, but I can appreciate them if they aren't excessive or weird.

Don't have any myself, but I think The Scary Guy is pretty awesome.

Used to have earrings, when I was younger, but had to take them out because my ears got infected, and then the holes closed up. Don't plan on getting it done again.

Sort of want a wolf-paw tattoo on one of my shoulders or something, but I wouldn't be able to stand the pain of going through it, heh.

EDIT: Oh, would also want a Nobody symbol... but once again, the pain factor.

Well spoken ! !

More often than not tattoos look more like a nasty bruise than art. And to even call it art is such a stretch ! !

^Why is it a stretch? One makes a picture, that is art. Only difference with tattoos is that the canvas is someone's flesh.

^ agreed, just because someone's taste in art is different than yours doesn't mean it's not art :P it takes great skill to shade with needles and ink and to get a beautifully done tattoo (i'm not getting one, i'm sure i'd try to wash it off in the shower, i can't even keep ink on my hands for five minutes) is really something special, i have a friend with a handful of tattoos and they're incredibly beautiful and well done, even down to the little toenails on the picture :) .

^Yeah, my aunt has this tat of a scorpion with a rose on her breast, pretty well detailed.
It sort of weirds me out though, lol.
