anyone else like this film?

i love sam

I do, rather. I've noticed that it's a common thing for neurologically unusual people to like this film. I have two friends on the fringes of the autistic spectrum who love it.

i loved it when sam walked into the shop with a help wanted sign and said "i wanna help"..cracks me up everytime.

OHG is everyone going on a Benny & Joon spree? This is the second thread I have seen on it.

Anyone like Mike? I don't, he made Sam sleep under the sink and calls him names. I wonder what other mean things he has done to him? The only nice thing he ever did was give Joon a boyfriend by putting him in the pot and Benny got a new housekeeper he could keep for life.

no!! i dont like mike.he seems like a miserable person.

wasn't it alluded to that joon was the reason why their house burned down(when they were young). maybe it was cut out of the film.

when they try to make sandwhiches with an iron makes me laugh.

Their parents died in a car crash when they were kids.


Mike seems to be the kind of person who doesn't like people who are different. He uses Joon to get rid of Sam, he made Sam sleep under the sink and wanted to get rid of him. If he had a problem with him watching old movies at night because it was keeping him up at night, he should have said something to Sam about it.

yeah or just read a book when sam is watching a movie? or get another tv maybe?

Use ear plugs or tell him to turn it down. Perhaps they live in a studio and the light from the TV set keeps him up. Use a eye mask or just tell him to go to sleep when he goes to bed.

Mike: He keeps me up all night watching stupid old movies. My work's starting to suffer.
Joon: You install cable TV

In the movie script Joon was more childish. She said "That's impossible. You install cable TV."


I loved how Sam took the hubcaps off his car and threw the in the air and he didn't know what he did with them. I bet that was revenge for how Mike treats him. I wonder if Mike left his headlights on or Sam turned them on? Then Benny refuses to give him a jump and just leaves him there with his drained car. I also noticed how bright the lights were and then I noticed they are dimmed when Mike, Benny, and Joon come out and Mike asks him "What are you doing you stupid jerk?" and Sam acts like he doesn't notice. Maybe he just ignores Mike's insults and he has a strong heart. He also ignored the fact when Benny called him an "idiot" and a "first class moron" and he tells him "You're scared Benny." Sam probably doesn't care if he gets called names Maybe because he was bullied in his childhood so he learned to get tough and now names don't hurt him anymore. He just ignores them and he doesn't fight back or do comebacks.

I named my balls Steven and Stephen in honor of the movie.

The one that goes "I would walk 500 hundred Miles and I would walk 500 more?" If that's the one you're talking about, then it's called "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." It was at the end of the movie credits.

um,no.it doesnt have any lyrics to it. its throughout the whole movie.kind of like a background tune.

its a nice tune though.

It is, they just used it in the movie because Mary Stuart Masterson asked for it to be. It was her favorite song she played it on the set of B&J.
