I've recently been restoring a nice vintage Western Electric telephone..

Twist tie wiring is temporary. Waiting on reproduction cloth cords to come in...

This phone is complete with the vintage carbon microphone too, AND old "big" speaker in the handset.

Awesome I don't really know about this kind of thing so I have a silly question? Will you be able to use it if so will you be using it?

Yes, I will be able to use it. Telephone networks have not changed in the way they work at all since the introduction of telephones. Even on VoIP, the phone port has to work old fasion, including the high voltage ringer signal.

And yes, I will be using it, and already AM using it..

For VoIP, you need to make sure your VoIP "box" supports pulse dialing, most don't. I have the Vonage V-Portal, and it amazingly supports FIVE of these old bell ringer phones, and pulse dialing..

I kept my cordless for when I want to go out of the room (rarely), and when I need to dial through automated menus which require touch-tone. Though, I can still have the old Western Electric phone to my ear, I can press the buttons on the cordless like a remote, and still send the tone to the VoIP box since it's the same wire..
