I wish someone would make "human food" in a tin

It's possible to buy tinned cat food and dog food, so why not human food?

Though I understand that as an organism I need food in order to live, I am not interested in food at all. I find food preparation tedious, time consuming and occasionally stressful, and I don't derive any pleasure from the act of eating. I could happily eat the same thing every day for the rest of my life, as long as it tastes somewhat of meat and doesn't have a repellant texture or odour.

If a company started marketing human food that I could just tip out of the tin and eat out of a bowl, I'd be first in the queue to buy some. :D

Does anyone else think this would be a great idea, or have I finally lost the plot?

You still have to heat those things up and/or mix them together though. Well apart from the tuna, but I'm not sure if I could just live off that.

What I want is something that's basically like dog food, but made from better cuts of meat and with a nutritional value specifically attuned to the needs of a human.

Something like that actually could be made, but getting a company to mass produce it would be hard, because it must be able to appeal to a lot of people and make a profit or they won't do it. Therein lies the problem.

They could just put a picture of a half naked CGI woman or Master Chief from Halo on the label and market it at the gamer demographic.

Urgh. That stuff's just fat with a few bits of god knows what floating in it. Good fish bait though.

Because dog food is disgusting.

This is a good point. It has plenty of nutricional value and it doesn't taste bad (I recommend the chicken variety, beef plays tricks on your intestines).

We've had it since before the Crimean War (1850s)
Or do you mean Bachelor Chow, like on Futurama?...;)

Same thing?

IIRC Bachelor Chow comes in a big bag like dry dog food. You just add water to get "gravy."

Tinned irish stew or braised steak and veg? It wouldn't taste as good cold but you could do it..... maybe with a side of water and a multi vitamin?

Soilent Green? :D

Perhaps find out where you can bulk buy military ration packs that they give to soldiers. What do they call them? "Meals ready to eat".
