Yeah, I'm arachnophobic. Unless it's one of those little delicate grey spiders that move like robots. I don't mind those.

And there is this big monster hanging out somewhere in my room and he won't come out, and I don't want to go to bed with him scuttling around. I feel endangered.

???

I don't have any good suggestions, but maybe some mosquito netting over the bed? That way he won't be descending onto your face or anything at least. And it could buy some time until he does come out and you can do something about it.

Just a thought.

I wonder if there are spiders that eat mammalian flesh?... (just kidding...)

Thanks a lot now I'm gonna be looking to see if there is a breed that does eat human flesh.

Possibly raise a couple for a Trap hole. Lol evil lair.

Vacuum cleaner? :D I do know that spiders don't like baking soda or citrus fumes, like Lemon Pledge.

Uggh, spiders are my one truly irrational fear too. I haven't shot one yet, but I don't rule out that ever happening should I encounter a sufficiently large and hairy one (consider this fair warning that spider related jokes don't end well around me). I actually had a pretty good technique as a kid for dispatching them, I'd pump up my BB gun but not load anything in it, the blast of air coming out the end of the the barrel was more than enough to blow a spider to bits without any possible ricochets or other dangerous side effects. Also, the 3 foot long air rifle kept me far enough away from the spiders that I wasn't too creeped out by the things.

Go pick up some Hobo Spider traps. It's a little off-rectangular tube you put up against the wall, and the inside's covered with an incredibly sticky substance. We use them mainly to catch Hobo Spiders (surprise) in my house, but we also pick up a lot of other spiders in them. They're available at most Home Depots and the occasional WinCo.

I have a spider phobia as well. That and Palmetto Bugs (big ass flying roaches!) I still have to get my mommy to kill the roaches and large spiders I am ashamed to admit.

I would tear that room apart and find the bastard then suck it up into the vacuum cleaner. If you live in the US, there is a spray for bugs and spiders called Adams- they make fleas sprays for pets too, and other products. They are the best aside from the stuff you buy at the vets office for a million dollars. The Adams home spray will kill all sorts of bugs and spiders and it isn't as unpleasant as Raid.

We use those electronic things you plug in everywhere to keep bugs and rodents out. They only work so well though. Last night we had a giant Palmetto in the bathroom and I was on the toilet. Well I made a mess because I freaked out  My mom killed that thing but it took her a bit of exertion too. Damn thing was huge! We didn't have them here until Katrina blew them all away in Louisiana. They like damp places- it has nothing to do with cleanliness.

Anyway- spiders- get the spray and start going through your stuff and your room and spraying, but cover your mouth. If it doesn't kill it right away it will flush it out so you can vacuum it up.

Meh, i only hate the big spiders. <.< The little ones are harmless and i usually only take a glass and a piece of paper to take them out. <.< Good thing that in Canada, it's cold enough that we don't have any big ones  . Still, i've heard that there are spiders as big as cats in some deserts, it's like a big white hunter-type. Wouldn't want to meet that ><.

Aww, spiders won't hurt you... You've probably had dozens crawl in and out of your mouth as you sleep.

Over the course of a lifetime, people will eat about 5 spiders as they sleep.

When's the last time you heard of a person being eaten by a spider?

Poor little guys...

The camel spiders of Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan will carry off your young. I would post a pic but I cant look at them. If I had seen any in rel life I would have gotten in trouble for shooting them!

i gots a girl who was once in your position. she was once frightened deeply by a spider while eating her lunch. she now fights against spiders everywhere.... they call her.... miss muffet...

no, er seriously, raid or something. try sleeping somewhere else until you take care of it. i have no hatred toward spiders but i'd be a bit scared if there was a humongous spider hanging out above my bed. i'm not an spider expert so i wouldn't know if it was poisonous. most scawy.

Get an air-gun, like a Crossman 760 or otherwise having a long barrel. Don't use a pellet, just pump to full pressure capacity, place the tip of the barrel as close as necessary to the spider, and pull the trigger. The rapid change in air pressure will shred the arachnid.

Ah, you'd already mentioned that method... it would help for me to read the other replies first.

I would hate to be in your shoes! When there is a large spider in my room, I stare at it, as it somehow thinks that if it doesn't move, I think it's dead..... So I stare at teh statue of this spider.... untill someone else comes in, and I get them to dispose of it. But now I'm getting a BB gun, so I shall simply blast it to peices.....
