What I mean is do you keep track of what you are eating, what nutrition are in the foods you eat, what good or bad the nutrition does to your body, how often you read food labels/do you even care, etc...

I used to eat whatever my parents cook or buy. Now, living in university, I usually cook what my parents cooked and I'm starting to do research on whats in the food I eat but I find myself to be lazy and not care too much just in case I get an obsession. I just go with the rule "cook a wide variety of vegetables", get enough exercise and of course, avoid too much stuff that are high in sugar and fatty stuff (although I always love to eat burgers and fries and pizza heeheehee!!).

Yes, very conscious. I try to buy the best foods I can and cook from scratch a great deal. Even making up my own version of Hamberger Helper is better than buying the box, and just as easy. I use whole grain pasta, real cheeze, plenty of veggies, and so on.

Yeah, sugar is awful. I had to write a 6 page paper on it. It actually gives you brain damage! Like, matter shrinkage. :P

I used to pay no attention to food labels, or read them but not really understand what that information meant. Now I always look and have certain criteria it must pass for me to eat it (though I still eat lots of crap). Mostly I'm just looking at calories, but I also look at trans fat, carbohydrates, and sodium.

I never cared. Only now I have to be careful, and make sure it's gluten free.

Ehhh, not so much conscious as just curious
I don't really keep track of what i'm intaking for any health reasons, but i DO like to look at the labels & see what interesting things i'm intaking :) .
Like "Oh, this has plenty of protein 8) " or "Hmmm, this has good amount of different vitamins  " or even just "OMG, that's alot of sugar 8O !"
But i eat it all anyways.

I don't care about the nutritional value of the food I eat. If it looks good, I'm eating it, and I don't care how bad it is for me.

FYI, I weigh 157 lbs at 5'6". Considering how I used to weigh 180, that isn't bad (though it could be better - I just don't want to put it in the effort of dieting right now).

I have read the labels for so many years that I can usually guess the calorie or fat content of items without seeing the nutritional stats on the back of the label now. This guy I worked with used to buy something from the snack bar and then hold it up at my office door. I would guess and always be within 10 calories or about 2 grams of fat, if not dead on LOL.

Honestly, I check this stuff out at the store and then decide whether I really should buy it. Some things are not worth the fat/calories/sodium etc. I think most people probably have no idea how many calories and fat grams they are eating every day, and if they have to lose weight at some point they won't know how much to reduce their intake.

LOL- my mom used to think "healthy" meant cooked on the stove. She would put grease in a skillet to fry baloney!
