Ok, so I'm "bragging" about something I didn't do--my bf did. He's been working on this for months and finally succeeded yesterday.

He switched a 3.5 Acura engine into an Acura Legend. It runs much more smoothly now AND (this was the whole point) no seeping/exploding head gaskets. :D

I can't explain it any better than this because I don't know about engines BUT I am VERY proud of him!

Just wanted to share this with you guys.

Good job I guess, though I prefer the C series to the J.

Nice! One day if I ever have enough money I'd like to swap the 6.1L Hemi in my car for a crate motor. Rumor has it that the SRT engineers even put a Viper Engine in a Challenger. That would be sweet.

He just told me that it is, in fact, a "C" series, a C35A motor from the Acura 3.5RL. It was never originally offered in the Legend but with some slight modifications it drops right into the Legend, since it used an older "C" series motor :)

He says it's a 3.5 Type II hybrid. It uses the cams, intake manifold and valve springs from the Type II Legend motor, with the C35A motor.

I literally just typed what he told me. Like I said, I know practically nothing about this.

Thanks for the replies!

s**t nvm. I'm not a big Acura guy so I forgot there was a 3.5 C series. That's a nice swap though if he used Type II valvetrain and manifold with the 3.5 block. C32B would be cool but finding one would be damn near impossible at a fair price.

Technically the C35A was used in a Legend because the RL was called the Legend in every country but America.

It's great that he's completed, what he set out to do. Kudos to him. :)

That's a big job, and I appreciate how much effort it takes! I've done it with several Toyotas... I put Toyota Diesel engine into two formerly gas-powered Toyota 4x4 trucks, and plan to do another one when I get time.
