where you feel surges of inspiration, and your brain feels like it's on the verge of some utterly random grand groundbreaking scientific/philosophical epiphany that's just out of reach?

it feels like for just a few seconds my mind feels like it's in genius mode out of nowhere, and there's an overwhelming rush of facts swimming through my psyche, but with the idea/concept, the ability to connect all those dots is just tantalizingly just a bit too far from your grasp  .

Yep. Then you force yourself into trying to get the idea down, and all it comes out to be is nonsensical and gibberish!

I have a lot of these moments. My latest one, was that craft bussiness that has yet, to take off. I'm going to put the stuff that didn't sell, for bid, on Ebay.

Yes, often! However, I do think such "visionary thoughts" are of things yet to come or at least possible ...

Happened to me quite recently. I was writing something about the relation between mathematics and language (just for fun, I don't do these things seriously). For a brief moment (a second or two) I saw it all extremely clearly and I thought these words (loose translation, and its all I really remember now): Given time I can put mathematics in its place. I just gave up on it then, although I can tell from the structure of the matter that I could reach the same conclusion I did for an instant then, it will just take longer. I can still see it generally, but its not so well illuminated.

How about selling them on Etsy instead.

www.etsy.com

It's all just crafts and craft supplies.

heh.

My music is affected by this. I have this great idea in my head, and when I put all the notes down, it sounds like a bunch of notes that make no sense in that placement. I have to correct it, and people criticize me for "putting a bunch of notes down" when in reality, it's all the right notes... but in the wrong place and wrong lengths.

I kinda gave up on my brilliant ideas, until I decided to make my own channel on IRC. xD Now I have crazy rants and stuff there!

Yeah - I get this from meditating. It's a pleasant side effect. My vision also gets very clear when I've been meditating regularly.

Oh yeah! Happens quite often and, like others have said, when I try and put things into some perspective on paper...it's like... huh?

If only my attention span was profound.
