Quite a few months ago, my mom got me to start doing my taxes. I found it really confusing. I was kind of good at math so I expected doing taxes to be a no-brainer. But a lot of it has to do with organisation of different pages.

It was my first time doing taxes so it's not that surprising that I struggled with it. But I wonder how almost anyone is able to do taxes. I still have a lot to learn and I forgot about a lot of it by now.

Anyone else find doing taxes confusing?

A lot of people do, which is why accountants exist. I'd probably have a lot of problems trying to fill out all those stupid forms.

I think tax forms are a pain whatever country they are for. I have to do three! Two for the UK and one for France. All of them are difficult and frankly I guess at some of the questions or just write zero because I don't have the foggiest idea what the question is asking me for! The calculations are generally trivially easy - the difficult bit is understanding the jargon. The guideline notes they supply with these things also tend to be written in gobbledygook English (or French) translated from Klingon via an illiterate Vulcan who only understands Japanese.
